Probably needs to be moved to the tattoo thread, but Dharma Tattoo have said that Simon can no longer work there.

I posted a longer response over in the tattoo thread but I also find the accusations of Simon being a white supremacist pretty ridiculous. I don't know him well but I do know him personally and know many of his friends who, like myself, are decidedly of the not tolerating nazis persuasion.
As for temple, they screwed up big time and deserve to be called out and reprimanded for the behaviour but the next step should be for them to own up to it and have a chance to make amends not have their business "cancelled".
There's also in my mind a clear cut difference between this case and the incident a few years ago with the vegan bakery. In that instance, the owner knowingly employed (and was dating if I remember correctly) members of an Italian neo-nazi group. There were plenty of pictures of her in the company of proud fascists and at fascist events, there really wasn't any grey area.
Unfortunately when it comes to the wider vegan scene, while I cannot get my head around combining what to me are diametrically opposed belief systems, there is now a fascist presence. As with straight edge, certain people have started to see veganism as a purer healthier lifestyle which aligns with their desire for physical strength and perfection. It's extremely warped but for some people abstaining from drugs and animal products also makes them feel superior to those that don't which certainly fits with a fascist ideology.

Brings to mind Britain First's early online campaigns, where they shared loads of social media posts about animal cruelty to bring people in and gain an audience. I remember calling my (Indian) gf to tell her she maybe ought to delete the BF post she had innocently shared about elephants.

In case anyone hasn't tried Kinda Co.'s cheese yet, they're offering free shipping on orders over £25 (it's normally £7.50).
Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with them, just a happy customer. Their Farmhouse cheese is the best vegan cheese I've had so far.

farmhouse or farmhouse creamy spread?
-
• #7907
Do you mean which one I like best? I prefer the cheese over the spread, but the spread is good, too.

Hmmm. I want to try their nacho dip as well. Might pick up some of it and the farmhouse from the fauxmagerie. Also going to try to remember to sign up for their cheese making classes once they start back up!

I've slowly been watching the International Vegan Film Festival's short films that they put on-line when the festival tour had to be cancelled:
https://www.theivff.com/watch-now-covid19-virtual-world-tour.html
I have to say I didn't think most of the films were that good (but then I've watched a lot of vegan films), but one I found particularly moving was 'Coming Closer', from about 24:07.

Nutritional yeast.
Would like to buy in 1kg bags rather than faff around shops that don't have it in at the moment.
Where's good to order online?
-
• #7918
I may not eat a kilo of nutritional yeast in my life. I think I need to figure out more ways of using it, beyond putting on pasta.
-
• #7919
Put it on everything.

And in everything.

It's really good in tofu scramble for starters.

In fact, whilst we're on the topic, what's everyone's tofu scramble recipe? I think mine is pretty good these days but always keen to try new things.

I can't find anything in the UK that does 1kg bags. Most outlets only do the Marigold 125g cylinders. You could try Suma for those: https://suma.coop/
Actually, they may only do wholesale, I've never ordered from them.

There are some interesting points in here. I do find it odd how people who are compassionate enough to decide to become vegan don't always extend that compassion to other humans. I also find it odd that it doesn't always work the other way round as well, I know plenty of people that are humanitarian activists who aren't vegan. Weirdly I even know some people who are animal rights activists that aren't vegan, which is totally mind boggling to me.
