Went here in July https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186525-d3684972-Reviews-Tuk_Tuk_Indian_Street_Food-Edinburgh_Scotland.html. Was good and would definitely go back. Also, BYO so very reasonable.

Ended up at Paradise Palms based on the promise of decent burgers and Buckfast Daiquiris. The burger was average but the daiquiri was excellent.

I read that as 'Breakfast Daiquiris', but 'Breakfast Buckfast Daiquiris' would be the height of Edinburgh classiness. Take that, weegies...

Another +1 for Will's Vegan Shoes. Bought a pair of Brogues from there last week and they're really nice

I have had these for 3 months now. Fully vegan, fully recommendable, just don’t go running in them immediately.

I think I must have had had too many drinks when I ate there, good drinks though. 😆

It's OK, bit pricey, bit bland. Beers selection was kicker for me not much decent on tap. Meh.

Can vouch for Bread meats bread... very good... and close to the hanging bat for beers as well. Brewdog were opening a massive bar down there so I’m guessing that’s open now if you’re into that kind of thing

I used to spend a lot of time in Glasgow, had Bread Meat Bread there and it was excellent, much better burger than Paradise Palms!
Would rather not give Brewdog my money personally, especially when there are lots of other nice crafty places opening all over the place. I'm also more than happy with a pint of Tennents when north of the border so a lot of fancier stuff is totally wasted on me. -

Feel bad for a dud recommendation now! Hope the buckfast made up for it.. haha!
-
• #6843
Oh the Buckfast more than made up for it! And everything apart from the burger was good.

hanging bat
eurgh, could have been so good however shit service (two moody as fuck barstaff on at peak time most Fridays) terrible decor and layout, shit tap list.......I work with people who think its amazing :/
Brewdog - hipster Wetherspoons it may well be but their guest beer selection, Seitan burgers and service are all top notch

hipster Wetherspoons
What an insult to hipsters. It's fucking middle management Weatherspoons.

We’ve got a bar here that sounds the same as you’ve just described... it’s as if they can’t be arsed to serve you... but they own and run the place. I only went to the hanging bat once and it was midweek... didn’t have anything much on tap, so punted for a few a few cans instead... I think I’m kinda done with Brewdog, been drinking it for years now although like you said, they do have a good guest list most of the time

The fur's flying in Islington. Fur ban proposed:
Fur ban passed:
I always find these quotes so interesting:
David told the Gazette: "My favourite coat is sheepskin and it's warm.
"Obviously I'm against the slaying of animals just so people can look lovely but I don't mind fur personally. I have bought my wife a couple of fox furs, it's recycling. I'm a meat eater. I think animals are grown for food.
"I don't think you should dictate to the customers what they can buy. If a customer wants a coat with a fur collar and they can't get it in Chapel Market they'll just get it somewhere else."
And:
Another objector added: "The banning of fur is indefensible. Islington councillors and officers should not be making moral decisions about which forms of animal torture are bad and which are not. If Islington wanted to stop all cruelty to animals it would force traders to become 100 per cent vegan. It's easily arguable that an animal experiencing decades of torture for its milk and having babies taken away before it is then killed has a much worse life than a rabbit skinned for its fur.
"Is all skinning considered wrong? No leather or suede at any of Islington's markets? No handbags at Chapel [Market]? Fur is just fluffy suede."

Amazing.

Well, that's logically sound--obviously all forms of animal torture are bad.
I'm surprised you didn't pick out this one, which is rather less consistent:
Obviously I'm against the slaying of animals just so people can look lovely but I don't mind fur personally.
Sad to say this is my experience as well.
