I know a lot of people are boycotting it because they've refused to allow Hunt Saboteur groups to have stalls due to pressure from the land owners.
-
• #6553
Oh yeah, I read about that. My mate was wanting me to go along, but that'll have to be a no.

land owners.
Its mostly pressure from the countryside allience (they are worried the vegan camp out is turning into a terriorist training ground apparently)! And obviously conflict of intrest - most of those cunts still hunt wild animals. illegally.
The organisers are still going ahead.. becasue derr they wanna make money out of people.
Boycot the whole lot. They dont care about people actively trying to save animals i.e veganism at all. -

This has been the case since the first camp out. There was a massive fallout with sabs back then too.
Also not-so-vegan vega Bros where given a platform then too. -

Bros
Some things are unforgivable.
-
• #6557
It all just seems like it's more about cashing in on veganism than actually promoting animal rights.
-
• #6558
And they were subsequently called out by all other speakers that year - James aspey etc. Made me laugh
-
• #6559
It's so much worse than this.
-
• #6560
True, but giving them a platform legitimizes their "beliefs". Also wastes everyone's time.

A Vegan Camp Out that can't support Hunt Sabs isn't really a Vegan Camp Out to start off with... if a certain body is regulating what you can and can't do and calling the shots on something like this then it's time to boycott it... imho ;)

But then you'll never get a chance to see bosh guys make a sandwich on stage!

plug if you do want to do something but don’t want to sab - donate! Even if it’s the price of a vegan sausage roll. It all helps.
These people give up their weekends to monitor and sab illegal hunting during the season and also in the summer - (mink hunting still at large in this country) It’s a small community of dedicated, selfless and compassionate people. Really something all vegans should be behind.
Cheers

I thought the vegan one was tastier?
-
• #6565
Been experimenting with some vegan stuff as our kid seems to have a bad reaction to dairy.
Vegan cheese has been a lifesaver. Currently using Violife Are there any other recommendations? -
• #6566
The Sainsburys cream cheese alternative is a pretty good substitute for philidelphia, I've made cheesecakes with it no problem.
-
• #6567
Tbh I don’t eat them much so hard to score them against each other, I’m more of a sorbet kinda guy.
-
• #6568
Yeah to be fair I didn’t do aback to back comparison, was just surprised how tasty the vegan one was.
-
• #6569
That’s a good shout I’ll try that for our kids sarnies

https://www.huntsabs.org.uk/index.php/get-involved
Scroll to the bottom of the page, there's a donate button there.

Try cashew cheeses--still very pricey (made by small two-three people companies), but excellent. I Am Nut OK? (Hackney) and Kinda Co. (Bow) are local-ish, but others from London include Nutkin or Mouse's Favourite.

It's worth bearing in mind that local groups also rely heavily on donations! There's bound to be a sab group protecting wildlife in your area that would also love a donation.
-
• #6574
Also, lots of sab groups have merch for sale if you'd like to support them that way.

The missus is back. There is no branding on her boots but she got them from a Third Estate on Brecknock Road. They are not as breathable as her old Haglofs but have broken in nicely and she is mainly happy with them.
Anyone know anything about the Vegan Camp-Out? My mate is going and is a bit concerned that they've only sold 50% of the tickets.
