Maybe too late but, I'd suggest here: https://www.vanillablack.co.uk
The name is ridiculous but the food was really nice.

The name is ridiculous
I think they're trolling.

A vegan restaurant just off Tottenham Court Road that I think I'd heard and forgotten about:

Royal Thai restaurant on Caledonian Rd, King's Cross is pretty good. Not fully vegan, but menu clearly states they will omit fish sauce, oyster sauce, eggs if you request so.
Lunch of curry with veggies and tofu, rice, soup with tofu set me back £9.35 with service charge. Ouch. Good food though. -

would have thought that's rather cheap for curry plus a soup in London

Perhaps you're right. Did not feel ripped off given the quality and portion.

More on the Fauxmagerie:
Kinda Co. and I Am Nut OK! are my two favourites, too.

I don't like the word 'butthurt'; however, it's the perfect way to describe the dairy industry's pettiness about this.

Ellie of Kinda Co. had to change her company's name from 'Kinda Cheese':

The dairy industry has been running scared for years over non-dairy food... they can see it's a growing market and they're losing out because people give a shit about what eat these days... reminds me of Hellmans who tried to stop a vegan company from calling their product mayo, because it didn't have eggs in it... then proceeded to bring out their own dairy-free mayo ;)

Have just found a yoghurt maker that was forgotten at the back of a cupboard. Does anyone have any experience of making vegan yoghurt? I buy the coconut collaborative pots which are ace, tasty and thick. With dairy, I’d just put a spoon of live yoghurt in each jar, top up with milk and turn it on. Any ideas if this will this work with coco collab (does say it has non-dairy cultures) and a coconut or hemp milk??

I went to a Greggs the other day for a couple of vegan sausage rolls the other day (the last two in a service station).
Because I got a coffee as well, they told me I could have a cake for 20p more, and told me their Belgian buns were vegan...this is huge if true, because it was delicious. Seemed to be covered in apricot jam under the icing. Would recommend.

I went to the fauxmagerie yesterday with my two kids. There was a queue at 2:30pm which had not let up by the time we got served. They were probably turning over at least £200 an hour of sales from what I could see. Nice cheese but definitely a cut above your standard Tesco stuff, the kids weren't keen on it. I overdosed on it, might have a cracker or two tomorrow. Glad to see them getting the business. They might need to work on their customer service, get another member of staff, or get a bigger unit, if they want to keep up with the demand.

I'm glad the 'barbecued dog' in this was fake, though I still have no inclination to go watch the video:

Something on jackfruit:
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/feb/16/jackfruit-stinking-vegan-food-trend-star
I always find it fascinating how many varieties there are of 'one' fruit, e.g. mangoes (and how difficult it obviously is to offer a variety of 'one' fruit in locations far away).

Llandudno may just be the new vegan Mecca, it has a Gregg's directly opposite a pound bakery, meaning that for just £2 you can have a compare and contrast meal with Gregg's new vegan sausage roll, an actually vegan but called veggie sausage roll and the newly made vegan, veg curry roll.

Greggs filing is slightly better but the dirtier feeling pastry puts the pound bakery sausage roll ahead. Veg curry wins overall though, but I guess its not technically a sausage roll.

vegan Mecca
Sausage roll bingo?
This is very sad news and completely unexpected..

I only visited him at his old place in Hackney Wick and had been dragging my feet over going to Bethnal Green, although he had been open there for quite a long time by now. You never expect not to get another chance. A lovely guy, and his piadina (which was what he did in Hackney Wick) was excellent. I remember him taking so much pride in his food. No cause of death given. He was young, so one naturally wonders what it might have been. RIP Antonio.
