You never know, perhaps she's desperately trying not to fall in love, but I've heard this one before in various cases, and if I recall correctly the consensus was that it's generally an excuse for people who don't want to say why they really don't want to carry on. As ever, it may be a blessing in disguise. If you really, really like someone, 'the vegan thing'/'the omnivore thing' is not something you can't overcome. That said, it might not be the end of the story, so be flexible about developments. #noteasy

Nice! Gotta love potatoes in a curry. I have a masala I make that's a little different but I'll give this one a shot. How was it?
Made beetroot and walnut burgers for dinner tonight tasty, but not very photogenic.

It was really good, I prob could have used 1 more chilli for good measure. I’ll be cooking it up on site in my trangia tomorrow for lunch in defiance of the bacon and egg roll munchers I work with.
Peanuts give it some serious win. -

I'd go for coconut oil

Blueberry, pineapple, oats and green powder smoothie this morning, easily the best I’ve ever made. 10/10 would blend again.

What green powder?

Wouldn't worry about it fella, if she was worth anything, the vegan thing wouldn't be a problem... my gf is amazing with me being vegan, loves Mildred's as much as I do and never takes the piss... Cliche I know but there is someone out there... don't try to find them either, that was always my downfall.

It doesn’t taste like shit or run straight through me which I see as a win.

Obviously, that's how I'm selling it to myself.

Deep fried seitan, rice paper bacon, houmus, chargrilled pepper and spring onion burgers.
That’s some artisanal shit right there.

. If you really, really like someone, 'the vegan thing'/'the omnivore thing' is not something you can't overcome.
Hmm. I think I disagree. I would not continue to see a meat eater. I would have disrespect for them. It would eventually cause hassle.

I've been thinking about this. I guess it depends on why you're vegan. If it's for health or environmental reasons, then I think you could quite happily partner up with a carnist, so long as each person was understanding of the other's choices. If one's veganism comes from a strong respect for animal life and belief that harming other creatures is morally wrong, then that seems like more of an impasse.
The majority of my friends are not vegan, and make no attempt to decrease the amount of meat they consume. I'm finding it increasingly hard to look past what seems like pure selfishness.

Totally agree with this.
Find I have other lines too. If someone I meet worships in a god of some sort, votes tory or supports brexit, I can't help but think less of them.
Sometimes I feel I'm the one with a problem!

Hmmm, I think everyone should have the choice to live their life how they want to live it... I choose not to eat meat and dairy, but I know loads of people that choose to do the opposite to me. My GF eats meat but at the same time, respects my values as well... I cook for her and she cooks for me... feeling disrespect for their choice isn't right. Maybe I'm a bit long in the tooth about this now but I live my life how I want to and I respect people for their right to do that as well, even if I don't agree with it

I got one of those free pizzas from 3 yesterday. I ate it - should I have? Am I increasing demand for dairy products (bad), or just costing a dairy company money (good-ish)?
What's the opinion on free food in general? If a ham sandwich is about to be thrown in the bin say?

I agree one should have the freedom to live their life as they feel fit but if someone making a choice to accept and contribute to the needless/ unnecessary killing and torture of life doesn't sit well with me. Admittedly I think most peeps have never really thought about it and society has normalised it, however, if they have chosen that it is acceptable, then it's a bit effed up.
-
• #4299
Don't get me wrong, I think it's effed up too... but you have to live with these people everyday of the week, whatever your feelings are or how you feel about things... as the say, ignorance is bliss!

Hmmm, I think everyone should have the choice to live their life how they want to live it...
As long as that choice doesn't impinge on the freedom of others?
Non vegans make the choice of life or death for animals.
Animals don't get the choice.
I try not to get angry with friends, work colleagues, etc. But there is no way i could live with someone, have sex with someone, have kids, etc, who didn't think or care about that choice they're making.
Clearly she’s a bit of a chief if she can’t get past what you do or don’t eat. Shame if you were getting on otherwise.
I just made some really juicy looking seitan fillets for the week. Totally gonna batter a couple of them...
