The thing you need to know about is that at some point, everyone messes up, I have, and I can guarantee everyone else on here has at some point as well. It doesn't mean you're not vegan anymore, it's a massive learning curve to take it into everyday life. I don't really agree with the alcohol part of what you said, you drink what you want to drink, not down to what your mates are drinking, the shit some breweries put into their beer should be avoided at all costs... after all, that is part of being vegan. It's not like there aren't any bloody good breweries or beer out there, I'd never drink anything that I knew had isinglass in it, and Barnivore has already been mentioned... this is my bible when I'm out, and I always check before I buy.

I messed up a few months ago when I offered to buy a homeless man some food. He asked for a sandwich. It was when I stood in the sandwich isle of the supermarket that I realised that I'd just offered to buy someone something that isn't vegan. At that moment, I couldn't see my way out of it and bought an egg sandwich. It felt really crap but I've had some time to think about it and next time I'll just explain that I'm vegan and offer to buy something else.
As for alcohol, I sometimes have cocktails and will go through the cocktail menu and check the ingredients on Barnivore before going out. Although this might sound like a pain it's quite the opposite: it's such as relief to be able to continue distancing myself from apathy, mindlessness, denial etc.

Does anyone have any favourite lentil recipes? I'm broke as fuck and have shit loads of lentils. I've been eating lentil chilli for the last few days so not that!

My favourite recipe is using red lentils. Fry some garlic, ginger, bay leaves, dhal spices, chuck in tomatoes (canned or fresh), red lentils, a tin of coconut milk, juice of a lemon, some water/stock, let the lentils cook almost completely then throw in a huge handful of spinach. Let wilt and serve with brown rice/quinoa or a mix of both

Another favourite is lentil bolognese. When I'm lazy but need something somewhat nutritious I usually just mix a can of lentils in with pasta sauce and serve with spaghetti. And spinach. Always add spinach!

I make these a lot, easy and cheap recipe, a whole can of lentils will make about 4 burger buns worth, just replace the beef with lentils...

yea man, do it with green or puy lentils., just cook them and do like you would a 'normal' cottage pie. I'm personally not a fan of sweet potato top, but it swaps out very easily for normal/sweet/carrot etc.
@Scunny Yes, there's 'Raw Restaurant' at La Suite West Hotel London. I've eaten there twice and liked the food both times. They do vegan afternoon tea.
