  • Just Maroushed in Kensington at lunchtime, amazing falafel wrap. Used to love it when I worked on Edgware Rd, every other building is an excellent Lebanese restaurant.

  • Their lamb schwarma is amazing, my favourite fast food lamb in London.

  • Great, James, this is a thread devoted to discussions of veganism, though. You may have been aware of that, but of course sometimes one posts in a thread without thinking ...

  • It could be useful for vegans to know their lamb eating chums might also enjoy Maroush, or if someone changes their mind about not eating meat.

Their fatoush is pretty good - though sometimes too acid. Hommos and Hommos Beiruty are pretty divine.

  • Fatoush salad is a lovely thing. The Palestinian cafe Maramia on Golborne Road does a lovely Fatoush and some addictive hummus.

  • Harbour Cycles, the newish bike shop/workshop/cafe in Loughborough Junction, is run by a vegan. So you can have hazlenut milk (among other things) in your coffee. They do regular vegan/vegetarian supper clubs.

  • i cycle past this so often and have wondered about it. gonna drop in soon, thanks for the info bruce. have you had a service there/do you rate the mechanics?

  • Brenton, the owner, is sound. Not used their workshop.

  • Last night's London Vegan Drinks for World Vegan Day was a great night. The best LVD I've been to, by far. The atmosphere was joyous and relaxed and there were lots of lovely people. The venue, Karamel, may be a little out of the way (Wood Green; well, not for me, but if you're based south of the river, say) but it's a great place, 100% vegan. Good food, with a choice of burgers, pizzas, or a casserole, and really tasty chips. I don't think the next time I go I'll be able to restrain myself from getting one or more of the desserts, too. Colleen Patrick-Goudreau was there, too. I have one of her books, The Vegan Daily Companion. A+, will go again.

  • Been meaning to check out Karamel, glad to hear the food is good

  • Definitely one to check out.... 'specially now I've had my first week vegan!

  • I'm trying to cut down on carbohydrate at the moment. Can anyone reccomend some good recipes?

  • Forum vegan drinks at Karamel, anyone?

  • Tumbleweed ... do you want to meet just on our twosome, Steve, or do you want to see if others pipe up? The more the merrier, of course.

The next London Vegan Drinks, by the way, is on Saturday the 6th December, from 6pm, at Karamel. I'm definitely going. Anyone else? As I posted above, the new venue is really good, much better than the various venues it had in Central London. Needless to say, you don't have to be vegan to go.

  • It has gone very quiet! If we can leave it till after the weekend, Cate will be back and up for it as well.... Maybe the weekend after next - 29/30? We'll try to get to the drinks on the 6th as well...

btw - I'm on Day 24 of my Vegan month.... can't see any reason why I'd want to go back now (except for almond croissants...but I'll get over it!)

  • Up for both week-ends. Friday 29th or Saturday 30th?

Great to hear the veganism is going well! Easy to make vegan almond croissants, of course. :) They'll certainly have baked goods at Karamel.

  • Berlin people - I may have metioned Katie's Blue Cat already in the coffee appreciation thread,
happy to see that they now seem to do more and more of their spectacular cakes and tarts vegan!
    Highly recommended.

  • i'm moving out of my lovely house towards the end of december and am looking for someone to fill my space - anyone know of any vegans looking for somewhere? (my housemates are all vegan and will want to only live with vegans). double room, beautifully furnished, ensuite and skylight, garden and living room. £568 + bills, near elephant, pm if you can help!

  • Bumpety bump.

Anyone up for vegan drinks this Saturday?

We could join thomas.'s ride beforehand:

    https://www.lfgss.com/events/452/

    Ride up to Karamel afterwards?

  • Right, seems as if nobody's interested?

  • Healrhy Eaters, the Jamaican place on the corner of Electric Avenue and Electric Lane, have just opened a unit in Market Row, offering vegan variations on their usual menu. Only been open a few days but worth checking out.

  • Cate and I are up for karamel.... have to pass on the ride, but could definitely meet you up there...

  • Sounds good, Steve. I'm going to Herne Hill now, to the Canopy Beers launch party. I was aiming to join the ride that I linked to above but I've only just realised that they're starting at 5, which I probably won't make (or have to cut short my time at Canopy). Do you want to meet at Karamel at 7?
