Doh! I was going through the area at that precise time, too.

It's supposed to be a burger, though, not a banger.
What's the world coming to?

I've just got the book by the author of this blog http://ohsheglows.com/
She has some really lovely fresh ideas for both raw and cooked vegan food.
Interesting to learn how she used this way of cooking, eating to help overcome her eating disorder.

This is interesting:

Found via Fat Gay Vegan:

You'd obviously hope that they'd make their whole range vegan.

Tina Kino, can you reccomend anywhere else to eat in Berlin? Any advice for cool stuff to do from a local would be great to! I'll be spending most of Monday-Wednesday knocking around on my own.

Casey Kasem died a week ago. Somehow, I missed the news. I hope you didn't. Hard to think of a better example of a fun, cultured, famous vegan. Some of us are old enough for that to be dismaying news.

How about sprouting seeds and lentils? Things that sprout very nicely:
Chickpeas
Mung beans
Quinoa
Any kind of lentilAdds great flavour and texture to any salad or stew - just stir it in. Particularly good for cold dishes, because the sprouted grains/seeds have textures that would otherwise require cooking to achieve.
Also much more nutritious than unsprouted counterparts, if you are bothered by this sort of thing.

In which district(s) will you be?
And what sort of food (like takeaway or retaurants)? -

"Cool stuff to do" also depends I guess :P
We're not having the best summer this year, but staying outside (late) in Kreuzberg / Neukölln / Friedrichshain / Prenzlauer Berg is generally a good idea to get to know the vibe of the city.
Football is king of course at the moment - if you're interested you'll find tons of places outside with flatscreens and cheep beer.
Don't use much public transport (walk instead), but use maps. -

Saw this news, though had never heard of him before (or watched Scooby-Doo for that matter).
I like the aphorism he signed-off his radio shows with: "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars."

Tina, I'm staying between Wedding and Friedrichstrasse but don't mind travelling around the city at all. Nothing too fancy because a formal sit down meal on my own would be really weird I think! Also, my idea of cool stuff is interesting exhibitions and weird museums and stuff rather than football!

I've been out of the loop / out of the city so don't have special recommendations concearning exhibitions or museums right now, sorry.
Berlin's a visually interesting city though -
if you're in Wedding, you might just go two stops with the Ringbahn (circle line), clockwise, to "Schönhauser Allee", there's a vegan supermarket nearby, Veganz.
Wander south from there, towards Mitte (center of the city).
On your way you can check out Fast Rabbit for a vegan snack.
Go down Schwedter Strasse to "Zionskirchplatz" for example, there's Die Weinerei where you can get really good coffee and fantastic vegan cake for cheap. -

That sounds great, cheers!

Amazing, I am going to Berlin for new year and needed to find out where the vegan cakes were at. :)

cheers!
You're welcome!
I hope you had a good time despite the weather being rather shit! -

This strikes me as a sort of film that (while maybe being really really well done) is "preaching to the choir" for all already equipped with empathy,
and that won't reach a lot of those who are not, who actually "need it" - as it seems so invasive, emotionally, that those people will shut. -

Never made Guacamole before, anyone have any good recipes?
I always like guac when it's a little spicy and very garlicky. Also, who's going to the V Delicious Food Festival tomorrow?
Looks like it should be pretty good, it's at Olympia so I'm guessing it's pretty big.
Hoping it's gonna be like a trade show where there's loads of stuff you can try. -

I know, it's a tragedy :P
You cycled past me on Acre Lane earlier today Bruce, as I was leaving the newish health shop Daniel & Sons (144 Acre Lane Brixton SW2 5UT).
Very friendly guys in there and open to suggestions as to what they should stock. They have an excellent supply already though of many of the essential vegan pantry supplies (nutritional yeast, dairy free milks, oils, drinks, nut butters/pastes, date/brown rice syrup, flours, dried herbs, choc, and a shelf of toilettries and supplements. No fridges yet.
Unlike Brixton Health Foods, I didn't feel like I was constantly standing in the way,, or nearly pass out* from the vapours of hippiness.
- OK, bit of an exageration. I love you Brixton Health Foods :)
