    chicken stock

  • Haha, yeah that's a bit odd.

  • Happy pear one is quick, easy, tasty. Is basically:
    Garlic and onion
    Grate a carrot
Finely dice a pack of mushrooms
    3 tbsp tamari
    Can of tomato
    Can of lentils
    Pinch of mixed herbs
    Done

  • This is missing about 18 ingredients.

  • Shout out to Ottolenghi's tray bake ragu, obviously every ingredient under the sun but bloody delicious

    ..reminds me of

    Q: Are chicken vegan?

A: No, there's eggs in it, idiot!

  • I'm off to Manchester for a night with work next week. Where's good for vegan stuff around the Northern Quarter? Ideally a mix of vegan and non vegan. It's been years since I was there! Recommendations for decent pubs also welcome.

  • @snottyotter you're Manchester based, vegan and like a pint right?

  • I asked this in here this time last year and ended up here: https://www.societymanchester.com/vocation

Beers, food traders for all diets, was good.

    (wrong location :D)

  • Last time I was there I ate at a Chinese place called Wings which had some v good vegan options.

  • Both sound like good options, thanks!

  • This is true.
You could see what's on at Grub or Mackie Mayor but I don't get into NQ too often. There's some nice places around cutting room square, HipHop chip shop has some tasty vegan options and there's a pasta place nearby I've been meaning to try. There are also many pizza places.

  • I got to test a potential dish for work, a hot "honey" mustard glazed oyster mushrooms, I hope it becomes permanent as it was well tasty.

  • What is your job where you are surrounded by bikes but are also testing dishes at work?

  • I'm a mechanic, but the shop is attached to a cafe. http://www.stationsouth.co.uk if you're nearby, although next week is my last.

  • Purezza and What the pita might be the only fully vegan places that are left now. Common/Nells do pizza by the slice, not huge vegan options but not terrible ones either. This and that is probably still good for a curry.

There's Bundobust on the edge of Piccadilly gardens and there's a bunch of chain places in the Corn Exchange inc. Mowgli and Pho, both with good vegan options and walking distance from the NQ.

What sort of pubs are you after?

  • Actually, I’ve eaten at Bundobust as well and it was slightly above average.

Pho are utter cunts who sued my mates. Never eat there. Ever.

  • Mackie Mayor

would second this, had some lovely ramen last time I went out with work - it’s kind of food-hall-y, so options aplenty

    Noted!

You haven't thought this through. You want the dishes to change all the time so you can do more testing. :)

  • Thanks for the Manchester suggestions! A friend recommended This and That as well so that might be the winner. I used to live in Leeds, which also has a Bundobust, I used to enjoy popping in for the lunch deal and a pint.

  • If you want rice and 3 then Little Aladdin is good and all vegan, but tiny.

  • That sounds good as well! I'll be with a non vegan colleague but will keep that in mind for next time I'm up.

  • Next question, where's good for 6 adults, a 3 year old and a 1 year old, mix of vegan and non vegan, around Kings Cross? The closer to the station the better really.
