I'm confused...mounting your dynamo light on the bars is too pricey? Have I missed the memo? :)
-
• #903
Not spendy enough.
-
• #904
Well you can indeed mount any light on the handlebars.
-
• #905
not at all, I was just looking at the options, handlebar mount really restricts the choice .. I think I'll get the Supernova handlebar mount.

If you have a mount under the fork crown, just use a normal light mount, might need some bending but works.

dont have that either .. only at the back where mudguard is mounted

The choice of positions, or the choice of lights?

I've got one of these https://www.instagram.com/p/BWQa40UBMBA/

Good solution, that. Would go for it.

My dynamo light will be mounting to the go-pro bracket under the GPS unit, so it'll be both centralised, and tilt adjustable...independent of the GPS angle.
Perfect for me as then I don't lose any hand positions. -

choice of lights .. I cant see any more than Revo and Supernova.

Well I'm using the Sinewave cycles Beacon, because I want its ability to charge other stuff too without needing a separate usb charger....plus it can be run upside down due to its symetrical beam...but it's not exactly cheap...although the built in sinewave charger makes it good value to me.
Mount wise I just received a go-pro to dynamo 10mm mount from this guy, which means I can mount it to the gps unit.... -

He also has all sorts of other mounts and can do custom too.

IQ-X works with a modified gopro mount.

Son also makes bar mounts. I think you could put a B&M in those too.
And then there's these Ritchey stem faceplate mounts for Supernova, if you want something weirder and more space on the bar.

A dynamo specific system like this would be pretty interesting. I guess you could presumably still charge the 'PWR bank' with dynamo, but would be nice to directly link lights with dynamo too.

Front and rear lights needed for a city commuter (pretty low speeds), running new XT T8000 3w hub.
Thinking something like this pairing... is it underkill/overkill ?
BUSCH & MULLER Lumotec IQ2 Eyc T Senso Plus + BUSCH & MULLER Secula Plus

Looks good to me. The DH-3D80 is identical to the DH-T8000 too.

Exact light setup I've got on my fixed commuter. The setup is pretty well bombproof and the beam pattern on the headlight is brilliant for it's size and cost.

Anyone here has experience with this: https://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;product=144886;menu=1400,1410,1415;mid%5B39%5D=1;orderby=3
I need to get a stay mounted rear light (because carradice and small frame) and secula is the best I've seen which means I have to get a B&M front light too; most likely IQ-X.
Plus overall it will be cheaper than Supernova E3, unless someone can point me towards a stay mounted solution for E3.

I've got one on my Crabon bike as it has no holes to mount my light anywhere else, it does what you need it to. The one advantage is with the light on your bars you can re-angle it really easily which is helpful at night, it just means the light is mounted a bit higher than you would like.
I use the Secular rear mounted on the seat stays, mine are really skinny so I just used some old inner tube and electrical tape to boost it out so it doesn't shift about when you cable tie it on.

Pics pls! Its exactly what I am trying to achieve, also semi-skinny stays on a carbon bike.

Unfortunately said bike is currently in London Velo getting stripped as we speak, I will see if I can find any old pics where you can see them!
Doesn't really gravel in the dark.
