  • It's getting darker earlier, still keen for a LDN version of this - https://theradavist.com/2020/01/the-readers-write-the-new-york-pizza-and-dynamo-society/

  • I’d be well up for a ride to Beigel Bake

  • Same here, after 3rd oct

  • E3 triple 2 is not a good idea if you are riding on a cycle path with other riders coming in front. A colleague ends-up changing the light after being insulted by approximately every other cyclist coming the other direction.

Son28 has a bit more drag:

  • I'm about to list my E3 triple and matching tail light for sale. @GoatandTricycle I see you were looking for them?

    Edit: now listed here.
@GoatandTricycle I'll give you first dibs if you're still keen but no worries if not.

  • Has anyone done / got any neat ideas for wiring a rear dynamo light really neatly across a top tube? is there a thing? where can I find / buy the thing? must be a problem solver product for frames without cable stops...

I think i recall someone saying they used some kind of di2 wire stopper thing to run cables down the fork and or the TT. CBA w/ going through everypage of this thread to find it though.

    Thanks in advance

  • You’ve seen this already but I think it’s pretty neat.

I’ve just discovered a hole in the head tube lug which I can only assume is for internal dynamo routing so I’ll be doing that instead at some point!

  • It is good but I thinking of no ties around the tubes and just have a sticky little cable runner thing hiding on the underside of the tubes

  • Have seen sticky back thin trunking for di2 wire before. No idea where it is I saw it, but literally just clean the frame and stick it on, then snug wire inside it.

  • This is good but it doesn’t stick at all well

  • Worked fine for me on 2 bikes m8

  • How is a stick on cable guide good if it doesnt stick well?

  • Me too. Just need to make sure the surface is clean and the cable is skinny enough to not distort the channel.

  • cable is skinny enough to not distort the channel.

This is key. I found the supernova rear-light wire too thick for the di2 sheaths. Ended up cutting it lengthwise so it is more of a slot that the wire can tuck into then a couple small pieces of electrical tape over the sheath at the ends to hold it in place.

  • Been offered a Edelux i for £50, would this be good value or should I go with the IQ-x I can get from bike 24 for around the £70 mark. I know the Edelux I is quite a few years old now so was wondering if it’s still up to scratch for a range of cycling in the dark!

  • Nah. Even Edelux 2 looks a bit weedy compared to modern B&M or better. Go IQ-X.

  • I’ll hold off then! I had already sided with B&M but the shiny expensive Edelux was trying to tempt me.

  • @cake yes I had a great exp using it once or twice, then the same exp as @sbbohr later when I bought a job lot of these strips cheap, the glue had hardened and didn’t work any more. So you’re both right.

Those things are ok @Thrasher, or you can just get some of that air-hardening putty stuff … errr … thingummyjig … somebody with a young brain can remind us all what it’s called. Just use cableties temporarily at either end of the section you want taught and flat, apply the gunk and mould into a neat little blob, wait 24hrs, then cut the cableties off.

  • Hasn't the Edelux 2 been stealth upgraded over the years? IIRC the reflector's the same, but the LED has been given higher output.

(The Edelux 2 is shiny and looks better than the IQ-X, which is obviously a 100% cast-iron reason to prefer it...)

  • Edelux 2 been stealth upgraded over the years

    only from EDE1 to EDE2 ..

  • I thought the ED2 innards were Cyo Premium, which have gone from 60 to 80 lux over the years?

(Either way, both ED2 and IQ-X are great lights, suitable for everything other than the fastest twisty descents)
