I'd like to run a big front bar bag - are there any front light mounts (same as shown here) on the market that are like 15cm long?

Would you consider mounting down lower on the fork leg?
On one of my bikes I have the front light mounted off of the mudguard eyelet and it works a treat.

For handlebar bag purposes (and fork swapping) I bought that Supernova thing I mentioned a few pages back. When I'm using a bag I can loosen the clamp and rotate the clamp up so the light sits above the bars rather than in front

I (in a similar situation) ended up running the pump up the seat tube (losing a bottle cage) and using a frame bag instead.

Hmm
Planning to run a frame bag and bar bag at the same time for a bikepacking trip.

I've gone through this a bit. Shadow of a bag over the light makes it shit.
Finally settled in bar mounted with an extended.
Doesn't look great but past caring.

Bit late, but if you have a brother with a metal workshop it is possible. You can drill a hole in the mudguard bolt and tap it to take the bolt that comes with the light. I'll try to find a pic, I think I posted it on here a while back.
Edit - found a pic

@MrBaklava big front bar bags might need a rack. Attach the light to that.

It's a large Rapha roll-up bar bag.
Think I'll need to extend the cables and remount to a mid fork outlet - better get the crimps out.

Anyone got a B&M front light they'd be willing to part with?

also - I want to copy this set up. Where can I get the little thingy that sits inbetween the wahoo mount and beacon?
edit: Found it. https://www.sinewavecycles.com/collections/small-parts/products/gopro-mount-adapter

Is it maybe a GoPro mount?

Good afternoon denizens of the dynamo thread!
I have spent hours trawling through this dynamo thread (slow day at work) and it's safe to say I'm overwhelmed.
My new bike should be arriving at the start of June, complete with dynamo hub (SON Delux) and I need to sort myself out with the lights etc.
My inclination is to go for the Edelux front light, but my sense is that the rear doesn't matter too much? I'd like to be able to fit a usb charger as well - how easily is this done, and who has experience with some good ones?
TIA -

Edelux front light
Is very good. Be aware that you can't mount the standard model upside down (there is a specific model for inverted mounting)
my sense is that the rear doesn't matter too much
Doesn't matter in what way? Obviously it has to be compatible with the front light. It's also useful to be visible to vehicles. SON's rear lights look nice, have a variety of mounting options, are compact and would work with the Edelux front light. An alternative that is cheaper and will be compatible as far as I know is the Busch & Muller Secula.

Aha, okay thanks - that was I was clumsily getting at - the compatibility. I had somewhat assumed the rear lights are nice simple gizmo's that just plug into the front and would be broadly cross-compatible.
And all the cabling looks fairly straightforward to do yourself - any particular tips much appreciated -

The other option I'm considering is something like the sinewave beacon because of the integrated charger. £380-odd squid hits hard but nets out similar as an edelux and a separate USB charger, and is probably a bit neater

Just finishing building my cargo bike and was wondering if anyone has a big roll of 2 core cable (0.5 mm) I could buy 3/4 m off?
Should also probably replace the cable connectors so if anyone has a pack of female 2.8 mm connectors could I buy 4?
If not, I'll go to ebay/SJS but would rather spend money here!

With one or two annoying exceptions (Supernova) they are. In fact the front light just passes the dynamo power straight through (if it's switched on) and all of the smarts (standlight etc) are in the rear light.

Ah, gotcha. Yeah as someone else already said the exception I know of is supernova lights where the rear wouldn't be compatible with the edelux front.
Something to consider is whether it's worth doing a charging setup, or if a battery powerbank would do the trick. That's what I opted for and should be fine for shorter trips.

Big fan of the IQ-X. 100 lux, lovely spread, mountable upside down and plays well with all standard rear lights. £100 Can't advise how well it works with charging systems though.

Would be nice to future-proof the system though if you get me.Big fan of the IQ-X
This gets a good write-up and an impressive light field (I like how they show real photos of this on the site)

+1 for the iq-x.
€70 on the likes of bike-discount :'(

Last night we had a bunch of lights in the group. Two different Supernovas (including the new one with a weird recess in the lens) a New Edelux and a IQ-X.
The Edelux is a lovely object but for sure the IQ-X gave the best light.

Anyone got a half decent b&m front light with rear light capabilities in london? just realised my EYC does have connectors for rear light. Will just need it for tonight / tomorrow.
pm me and we'll chat.
