  • Yeah, just ask Velocio to merge the accounts--send him a PM with the e-mail addresses you used for them.

  • I have a B&M secula light that I would like to replace with a saddle mounted one.

Is there a forum approved light or should I take a punt and pick one.

Front light is an Ixos something or other

  • Interested in the secula if it’s going spare afterwards...

  • What saddle do you have are you planning on mounting on the back of the saddle or the seatpost?

  • Specialized toupe, not carbon rails.

Will a Son one play nicely with the Ixos?

  • Son is thrice the price of B&M

  • Specialized toupe, not carbon rails.

Cool, so you can use something like the B&M rail mount if you like which will mount it there.

Will a Son one play nicely with the Ixos?

Yes, in fact all the internal electronics and lens are made by B&M. SOn just machine the alu case.

There are two son options. A rack mount and a seatpost mount. The rack mount could bolt onto the bracket that attaches to the rails, and hang just under your saddle. However in this case a saddle back could interfere. For a lot less money the B&M Top Line Small is the same light with a plastic case that'll do the same job.

For the nice SON seatpost mount one it simply has a band which straps to your seatpost.

  • I will be swapping stuff from my basic randonneur frame to my less basic Velo-Orange one soon.
Hopefully routing the cable through the fork leg using existing holes will work.

Question 1: Anynone know if the good looking Son cable is less nice to fiddle trough stuff?

Question 2: I have a Sp Hub, iQ-X and will put an Igaro charger somewhere.
Will need to solder stuff anyway bc I won't be able to have 2 cables (light and Igaro) going to the hub. And the cable on the front light is too short anyway.
Igaro needs to be fixed anyway because I ripped one of the usb things off, so could ask them to put a son plug instead of the screw type I guess.

So, anyone used this Son Coaxial Junction box?

    Is it worth the hassle?

  • Hey there.

    1. The SON cable is 3mm in diameter and can be tricky to route through vent holes on fork, You may want to measure these on your VO fork. A trick I use it to use floss first and suck through with a vacuum and then lash this to the cable and pull through. I

    2. The coaxial junction box is a neat solution and works well and yes putting the male coaxial connector on the end is a good option. I guess this is one of the original Igaros?
If you don't go with the junction box you can make a basic y shaped version with banana connectors and the wire you decide to use, this will allow a spur to go off to the igaro and a spur off to your front light. This can be at the top of your fork leg.

  • its worth it though, its bright and well designed

  • its worth it though

Bull shit. It has the same exact lens and everything and if the above is true, the same internals too.

  • I'm currently designing two products for these lights.

Firstly will be an altnerative to the B&M saddle rail bracket. It will allow one to mount a rack light like the above to the two threaded holes on the back of Gilles Berthoud saddle.

Secondly we're looking at, like SON, taking the lens and internals from the B&M light and making a new case so this directly mounts onto the saddle.

  • The brackets on the B+M are made of cheese though.

    And not even good cheese.

  • To understand @amey you need to start from the position "how can I pay more for this item?"

  • stfu, my point is valid, buy both and see.

  • i have spent more time #buying than you have on this earth etc.

  • Indeed the B&M ones are very thin and cheap black plastic at the bolt holes.

  • When you were partying, I studied #buying. When you were having premarital sex, I mastered eBay. While you wasted your days at the gym in pursuit of vanity, I cultivated Instagram influence. And now that you need a new rear light, you have the audacity to come to me for help.

  • So would those who’ve destroyed the B&M mini advise those who’ve just bought one? Like should I add a washer to the fixing*? It certainly is a very impressive light.

*soft enough to dish into the countersink

  • @motoko

A trick I use it to use floss first and suck through with a vacuum and then lash this to the cable and pull through

Damn wish I knew this the other day, was routing down the rack stay on my Disco and swearing a lot.

The new case for the b&m internals sounds intriguing. Where on the bike are you planning this new casing to mount?

  • The GB saddles have two m4 threaded holes in the backplate at a 45degree angle. The plan would be to mount here.

  • Ah yeah, it’s great idea. I meant the second one, though.
