  • does the secula have an on/off switch?

trying to work out if i need to buy a 'switch' for my igaro.

this dynamo stuff is a minefield.

  • but then how does it know not to turn on in the day?

    witchcraft?

  • it doesent, runs all the time, not a bad thing

  • Looks like I'll need a switch then, because otherwise my igaro will be competing for power...

  • Did you also route the wire inside the fork?

No. Thought about it but never got round to it. Light is mounted on the front rack so just ran the cable down the strut.

  • I think this has been asked before. Pretty sure it only draws power if something is plugged into it drawing power. So, I just unplug my GPS/battery at night so the light gets full power and charge Garmin/battery during the day.

  • I run the b&m Luxo with usb. It comes with an off switch which powers off front and rear light. Leaves the usb running.

  • Rear light is powered through the front light, so if the front light has a switch (all B&M ones do) then that will shut off the rear at the same time (remember the standlight will need to discharge). You only need a switch (maybe a toggle) to control the light/igaro combo.

  • I think my secula still works even if I switch off my front, I'll check tonight.

  • What front light?

  • That's not how my IQ-X behaves... let me know if yours is different. Remember that the rear will have to run down its stand light capacitor when you cut power to it, that might be what you're seeing.

  • true, will check tonight

  • awaiting results with baited breath

  • If you switch the Supernova Triple off the rear light will stay on (capacitor standlight) for another 5min or so.

  • No, it turns off once the standlight has drained because no power is being provided.

  • @hamrack and @Ramsaye are right

  • Just got a dynamo light from a friend that has a weird fault (the light, not the friend). When turned on the light if off when the wheel (with the dynamo hub) is turning, but comes on when the wheel stops. My interpretation is that the standlight capacitor is charging properly and correctly powering the LED when there is no power from the dynamo, but, for some some reason, power is not getting to the LED directly from the hub. Unfortunately that's where my electronics knowledge ends. Any suggestions of what might be broken in the light to cause this to happen?

  • Turn the wheel around so it's facing the other way and spin it.

  • A dyno's output is AC though, no? So turning the wheel around shouldn't change anything?

  • Stop spoiling my fun. Consider it the dynamo equivalent of an inverse shim...

  • I think you need to get its chakras aligned.
Any reiki master should be able to help. I'm fine at the moment. The Ruislip Artisan market features an "usui" level rm, so just walking past her stand, laughing, I get most of the benefit.

  • Daylight sensor on the light?,
different lamp for 'running' vs standlight?

  • Ah. Oh. Well, joke's on me then, fun anyway :)
