  • Had my first one tonight. Think it was caused by having a cable lock wrapped around the top tube making me shift my knees out a bit further than usual. Anyways, one foot came loose and I was bobbing up and down on the other leg 4 or 5 times before my speed dropped, brain engaged and I got the other foot back on the pedal. It was a real WTF moment. Managed to stay upright and in a (fairly) straight line luckily as there was a line of cars following me away from a green light.
Don't want to do that again in a hurry.

  • Your bike is possessed. I will perform an exorcism for you.
I need three rabbit pelts, two buckets of bat droppings, 1985 for festia £200 for miscellaneous expenses and £100 fee.

  • Sounds reasonable.

I have bat shit. $50 per bucket. Will post.

  • Sorry but no way is a 1985 Fiesta worth £200!

  • Its a/in piece(S) of automotive history £195?

  • I went out for exercise and end up getting exorcised..... close enough I guess!

  • discount for bulk? my chain ring 'fell off' on the way home tonight. not normal. next in line please. can provide 83 vauxhall nova if that helps.

  • had a weird one the other day when my spd caught the top of a rubber speed bump on the down stroke... and the friction pulled the clip open. kinda..

I'm used to popping out of spd's though. I think i need atacs.

Do you have multi-release SPD pedals? I never accidentally clip out with my single-release ones. How tight do you ride them?

  • I think these are seriously underrated http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/look-keo-easy-item125285.html

Fantastic pedals, never accidently unclipped, never heard of anyone accidently unclipping from Look pedals actually, the cleats are pretty big though so they can be a pain to walk in if you're doing any more than a few metres.

sorry missing comma. It should 1985 Fiesta and £200 for miscellaneous expenses. My offer still stands, but the devils hold gets strong the longer it's left.

A 83 nova will get you a good solid chairing exorcism, but no blessing and protection from further possession..

  • Not unclipping, but the grips on my bars got water in them and thus came away from the bar on my way home on saturday night, hairy moment with one hand swinging out into the middle of the road. luckily was no one ont he road other wise i mightve died

  • I ride with old style pedals, and a foot has come out 3 times now

twice was trying to set off speed limit sign under Hyde Park corner :S

  • Mmcarthy, I used to have Looks on my road bike (geared) and rode them for 2 years (ish). I have NEVER had an unwanted unclipping from Look pedals. Downside is, walking in them is wank. The cleats raise the front of your foot 15mm above the rear. They are like reversed high heels...

I now ride Time Atac's on my geared road bike, fixed and MTB. Had them about a year now. Likewise, I have NEVER had an unwanted release with them. They are great offroad, clipping in even with caked on mud. On the road they are great too. Robust as fuck (steer clear of the Aliums if you are a weight weenie) and the cleats are recessed into the shoe.

I run Look Keo on the geared bike, and you're right, they're great. Bloody comfortable as well.

Bare in mind though that the springs on the Keo Easy are quite loose (hence 'easy') and non-adjustable. Regular Keo pedals can be tightened up.

  • Yeah they have no adjustment however I had no problems with them, plus for the weight weenies it keeps the weight down =P

  • Oh, I've unclipped out of Atacs twice now. Probably more. Always when I try to skid; I had to turn the cleats in towards big toe to get rid of ankle/knee pain.

  • if you are turning the cleat, you are altering the the clipping in/out angle

    spd's fdw

  • I know, Murts. and I didn't have the problem with SPDs but I did still have knee issues, even after changing the cleat angle yet not having unclipping problems. I don't have knee issues with atacs. well, I did, until I turned the cleat.

  • I've never accidentally unclipped from ATAC's and I skid all over the place.

  • i came out of times, quite a few occasions

  • Euph.

  • sumo, did you leave the cleats straight? I need to get fitted, I know. ealing is just ages away!

  • they're not straight on the shoe, but my feet are straight on the pedal when clipped in.
my left one was at slightly too much of an angle for a while and that hurt my knee, changed it to match the right one and no more hurty knee.

  • The only time ive popped out using my spd's is when im doing a phat skid, in the dry, on a grippy surface, using tyres with loads of grip.
