Is that bus picture real, or did you just prop a bike up in front of a dented bus?
Im surprised the bike wheel is so much stronger than the bus.

...It's a plastic bumper

Yeh DFP, the picture is real - Pifko said the bumper is plastic. The bike was firmly wedged between the bus and the road though. He ran into the back of me as I'd stopped at a red light and some passer-by took a picture on her iPhone. He had run me off the road onto the pavement beforehand, which we'd had a heated discussion about, so I guess he thought he'd "teach me a lesson" at the lights.

So what happened afterwards, thejiggerypokery/what is still going on about this concerning proceedings against the driver? Were you injured? Hope you're OK.

I'm ok Oliver, thanks. Have reported to police and tfl, who sent my complaint onto the bus company. I have had a bit of lower back gripe since the accident and the wheel is a bit out of true, but overall I'm okay, and the bike is okay. Actually the bus is okay too - the bumper just popped straight back out when I took the bike out. If the passer by hadn't taken some pics, it would have been like it never happened!
Not trying to hijack the thread here, but I can't start my own. Sem - I live in East Dulwich and commute up the Old Kent road through the city every morning so will look out for your mate's bike!! The good thing is, it's kinda hard to miss :)

OK, as per routine, presumably you have been checked out by a doctor, too? Always see a doctor after an incident like this (NB there is of course no way that this was an 'accident'), even if you think you're fine. Glad it doesn't seem too bad, though, and that both you and bike are doing well considering what could have happened.

no worries and wow, wac busdriver grrrr.
watch they don't try fob you off with the 'we can't tell you what action was taken against the driver in this instance but we would like to let you know we have done our best to track down the driver in question and he has been dealt with accordingly.'
that's just not on.
hope your back pain is minor and goes away quickly.

Yup, what a cuddle indeed! Actually I'm not registered with the doctors at my current address, but tbh the back pain seems to have eased off a bit. I'm not after compo, just want to see disciplinary action taken against the driver - although yes, I've already been told I wont find this out due to 'data protection'. Is this a load of codswallop or what?

More like 'utter bollocks'.

Yup, that's what I was getting at - basically, is it all bullshit, or is 'data protection' a genuine reason fro withholding this info?

Exactly the same thing happened to me on Oxford St once. Trackstanding and suddenly the bike completely locked up, bus driver had run the bumper over the wheel then refused to move backwards despite a large group of people both on and off the bus yelling at him. Farking idiot.

Funny that, because at first I couldn't get my bike out from under his bus so I said he'd have to reverse to get it out. He refused, but was still adamant I needed to move my bike so he could carry on with his route. I tried a couple of times to pull it out, but (bein a girl and all) it took me a while. I managed to get it out on me own in the end, but my Dad (I know !) seems to think he refused to reverse so that 1. he didn't cause any more damage to the bike and 2. he could claim that any damage to the bike was due to me ragging it out from underneath the bus rahter than the accident.
Btw 2TT, what happened in your case???

Apparently it's illegal to reverse a bus with passengers on it, presumably because it's very difficult to do with the massive blind spots, and you can't risk being in an accident in case people on the bus get hurt.

^ yea, same thing happened on last critical mass, bus driver wouldn't move cuz he "wasn't allowed to move backwards" what a cock fuck shit. i'm pretty sure you're not allowed to run over bikes either, cunt.

Don't move then and wait for the crane to pull him out
