  • I don't think he did either. He's acutely zeitgeisty, and that's a risky business.

  • ...but the ironic misappropriation (?) of a Latin term seems flawed....

"Homo" as used in "homosexualist" is of Greek origin meaning "same" and not from the Latin word meaning "man".

One cannot mix Latin and Greek words. If one did one might end up with something like "television" which, as we know, could never work.

  • Thanks for that. There's me thinking it means man-sex, when it actually means same-sex.

    Apologies to any lurking lesbians.

  • If it were "man" female heterosexualists would, presumably be "homosexual" which they are, clearly not.

I must just add that I find the now all too frequent use of the adjective "homosexual" as a replacement for the noun "homosexualist" to be discouraging. A creeping slackness is pervading our language, innit?

  • I prefer 'init'.

    And women are totally gay.

  • I just stick with Radcliffe Hall's 'invert'.

  • You stick with what you are best at, Will.

  • Solitaire? Ok.

  • No. To quote the charming but mysterious Balki:

Anyone who knows Will, either in person or through this forum will know that the bloke can communicate.

Communication is not a solo pursuit.

  • You all need to watch Crank 2: High Voltage, where the 'massive homo cunt' insult comes from. I think Jason statham was being pissed on by a ne'er-do-well while being dragged behind a speedboat while being electrocuted, at the time.

Apologies for requiring further reading to understand my choice of insult.

  • Okay, I take it back. You're not zeitgeisty in the least.

Tell this to the medical profession. sigh

  • Sorry Alex I take it all back. Hold on, you say it comes from a film starring Jason Statham? And you chose to watch it? I take back my retraction you massive hetro dick. :)

  • massive hetro dick.

Some people go to all sorts of extremes for comments like that.

  • I like the notion of genitals having inherent sexuality. Maybe all body parts do. Maybe I have gay elbows. Or straight ankles. Perhaps my spleen likes to swing both ways.

  • Your spleen is a massive bi-curious vent.

  • My kidneys are just a pair of sluts

  • I can add very little to this thread now other than in concurring with all the 'WAC' and 'got what he deserved' type comments. I would however just like to say that I wouldn't wish such an accident on anyone because it just strikes me as a bit sadistic, though he is a lucky shit for not having broken his neck at least.

  • My basal ganglia is repressed.

Does no-one care enough about the spelling mistake to comment on it within two minutes of it being posted???

I can't even spell hetero Oliver, don't blame me.

  • Orthogayphy.

  • I can't even spell hetero Oliver, don't blame me.

Standards are slipping, and Platini goes to bed too early.

Well, to return to this I agree; there's been a lot of bizarrely blood thirsty stuff in this thread from people who normally like to present themselves as liberal. (Plus the usual guff from one or two knee jerk vigilantes). People who wouldn't go for the idea that being injured, maimed or killed would be an acceptable judicial sentence but who think that would be fitting for the driver in this instance. All without knowing for certain if there were any mitigating circumstances. And having been doing what I do for a living for so long I don't need anyone to tell me about bad driving. I see it all day every day and have had many friends badly injured by it. And I have experienced the fantasies of revenge and impromptu 'justice' that it can provoke. Someone getting smashed up as a result of their own stupidity is not my idea of justice anyway. After all maybe the driver isn't the only one who will have to pay the price; maybe there is a family that will have to pay too as a result of the many consequences of his injuries and that's not just or fair either.
