  • Viagra has been alleged to have been used as a doping product by some professional cyclists;

    http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/moletta-cleared-but-without-team

  • I am not sure that it could be performance enhancing. It seems to make it harder - particularly in bibs

  • you have to sling it over your shoulder, like a couriers bag

  • It's suppose to be pissing down Saturday :-(

  • bring your inner belgian.

  • and some inner tubes. eh Steve!?

  • There's a dynamofem I've seen a couple of times. When I was there on my own last week, she and her mate overtook me and then slowed right down, right in front of me, and just chatted to each other. It was bizarre. they must have sped up a lot to do it just to make a point. I had to slow down loads to sit behind them - I didn't want to re-overtake as I was on my final lap and didn't want to get into a pissing contest. Women are sposed to be better than that, no? :D

  • All this Dyno-bashing is tedious. They have different training goals - so fucking what? Their pace ebbs and flows at a different rate to the RPLZ group - who fucking cares? They don't smash it up the hills (and neither do you lot in the grand scheme of things) - eat me fucking Bailey.

You're all in danger of becoming what you profess to despise the most.

It's a ride around a fucking park, FFS.

    Boring.

  • We may have no brakes and risers

What's this 'we' business, I'm on drops mate and so should you be too

Forgot you put drops on, and the fact I also have drops. Yeah I will be.

You forgot that you did say that you didn't have brakes and risers.

Pssst, 'or' would have been clearer, but you can just about get out of this one owing to the ambiguity. :)

    No "Dyno-bashing", no talkies.

Relax BMMF we're just having a bit of lfgss banter. Helps pass the day. Harmless.

Yeah, don't forget Zed "owns" the park these days..

Soon there will be a toll booth at every gate , mark my words...

And they won't be Cuntinentals either sonny.

I won't be out this weekend anyway.

    Boring.

A park which London Dynamo seem to think they own. They don't.

  • I'm going to miss a cracker this Saturday aren't I. Oh well, I suppose
I'll have to settle for reading about the drama on Saturday afternoon. What fun.

    Give 'em hell you lot!

  • A park which London Dynamo seem to think they own. They don't.

What behaviour have you witnessed recently that constitutes them 'seeming to think they own the park'?

Sounds like the kind of crap I here from prejudiced drivers who moan about cyclists 'seeming to think they own the road' whilst out on a Sunday run.

I don't ride in RP anymore, partly due to moving to the other side of south London but also partly due to the attitude of London Dynamo riders. I used to train there a lot with a friend and we lost count of the number of times we got told where and how to ride by Dynamo riders, i.e. being told to ride in single file, to not pass them in certain places and so on.

I appreciate that some Dynamo riders do good work on behalf of cyclists in RP, but too many of them seem to think they have some kind of right to ride there ahead of other cyclists.

I'm sorry if you think that's crap, but that was my experience.

  • I think they've mellowed over the years. I know one of their riders was Napoleonic in stature, attitude, (and name), but I think he sticks to racing more now, along with some of their other 'big dogs', and the RP groups aren't tainted with control freakery to the same extent.

In fact, I'd like to take credit for causing the sea change: the afore-mentioned rider started yapping at me as I turned up for 'more than my allotted Dynamo Saturday fast group rides as a non-club member', and I said I was BC insured, and would gracefully drop off the pace if necessary, and go to the back of the group on the descents (as I was on 72" fixed - and quick to point out one of their tribe was riding similar, so they couldn't 'ban' me for riding fixed).

Somehow I managed to hang on during the 4th lap - the one where you're 'free' to break formation - and rode elbow to elbow with him as we went up that anti-clockwise 'steep' climb. On the false flat, everyone else had slipped off the pace, and he looked askance at me with evil glee. I can't believe he actually fell for my pantomime suffering. I gave him a pitying look, said 'Byeeeee!', dropped him, got to the top, did a U-turn, and had time to wave at him struggling up the last bit as I descended and left them to it.

    All very puerile.

To be honest, the 20mph speed limit has probably done the most to curb their authoritarian excesses. They've been reminded they actually have fuck all power, and that the park is for 'leisure training'.

  • I can't believe he actually fell for my pantomime suffering.

    widow twankey on a bike?

  • I guess I'm just a slacker, but if something's pissing me off I just avoid it. I do laps round RP at least once a week and can't say I've had any angst from other riders. I don't like crowds so try to avoid Saturday mornings, but any other time most cyclists are a friendly bunch and return a nod or grunted hello. As for the dynamo bunch, I don't see any more aggression there than I've seen from some of the alpha-males at Herne Hill velo... the combination of testosterone and adrenalin just turns people into tossers occassionally? Just smile back and spread the love, man...

  • Herne Hill is a race track.

Richmond Park is not a race track.

    You're not going fast enough.

  • 20 mph limit.

  • That's me banged up for Xmas then

  • Isn't that just for cars though?

  • ^no
