I truly think that Discovery is up there. Especially when watching Interstella 5555. One of the best experiences of my life.
I was a bit dissappointed when discovery came out, homework is probably my favourite album ever. Listened to discovery the other day though and it does stand up well.. zane lowe is having it as one of the "legends" albums where they play the whole thing start to finish.

More big, dumb rock:
Karma to Burn - Almost Heathen

The National - Alligator
I prefer Boxer, as an album, but nothing beats Mr November. Can't wait for the new album and impending tour.
For me it has to be British Sea Power - The decline of british sea power.
I would also say they are the best live band of the last 10 years.

Archie Bronson Outfit - can't remember the name of the LP but its lovely. (edit looked it up: derdang derdang)
3hotwomexicansandatinofspanners - again I can't rmemebr the LP titles. But they're all amazing.
No Age were good on the first LP, Weirdo Rippers.
I quite liked a lot of the weirder folksy stuff around like Bonnie Prince Billy, but best of all was the King Creosote album. Again, I have no idea what its called.
Umm who else? !!! are wicked. The Justice LP is pretty bonkers. I obsess about the Cody Chesnutt song redone by The Roots, Push for Life. Not an LP though. Raphael Saadiq, Instant Vintage. Kelis, umm the one with milkshake on it will be pretty redolent of this era when we look back at that in ten years. Ditto the CSS LP. Ditto was the one fronted by a certain Miss Ditto. +1 on Jill Scott's first solo LP. Battles LP is pretty cool. Dare I say so was those nu ravers what are they called? Oh god. Can't remember their name.I would say this decade has been characterised by a lack of awareness of what anything is called.
I hope the fake Rhythm and Blues artists are all forgotten quickly, I fucking hate all this fake 'retro' fifties and sixties shite. When I found out Amy Crackhouse hgad been fiddling around with Mr Magic I was gutted. They're all cunts.

Both great albums, Alligator is just my favourite by far. It transports me back to a time and place and I never connected with Boxer in the same way. Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers is also brilliant and 'Slipping Husband' is probably my favourite track of theirs bar none. Looking forward to seeing them live also!

Rammstein - Rosenrot
Running through frozen woods in the dark, with only a headtorch, and some angry Germans on your IPod, telling you to 'get a f*king move on!' = very alive
(*This may not be an accurate translation of the lyrics, as my german is unreliable)
