  • Surly's are cool, mostly because they...err...aren't.

In the last 6 months I've turned mine into a dutch bike, a track bike (for the track) and a single speed cyclocross bikes. You must love something that will take all of my weight and still be happy after 6 months of heavy beating...I've cracked the two bikes I've had before this one.

you got a karate monkey Nhat?

  • Nope, I have a very tolerant steamroller.

    1. Temper_Temper
    2. Sweaty
    3. Nhatt
  • :( does that mean i can't come on my deeply (un)cool LHT?
    @Skully + dj - quality tales.
Still yet to have a bike on bike altercation. Seems more sporting than shouting at/out of trucks at morons.

Gonna go play nodderderny this avo

Oooooh! If we make this a Surly ride we can all be miserable and ride whatever of their bikes we like!
Hmmm....the steam roller, the pugsly or the big dummy...

  • Damn you and your mighty surly stable.
I need to bring the trucker to your fine establishment for a tune-up at some point soon. Think i've missed out on the free servicing now but nevermind. Will be sensible and call the shop tomorrow to book it in with y'all.

Bring on a wet and miserable surly ride.

  • Well...I only own the Steamroller, but the shop owns the other 2. I have a Salsa as well, and I kinda feel like she's part of the Surly family too.

We need to do this in January, so it can be really surly.

  • Who the fuck's Ian Brown?

He's TfL's Managing Director for London Rail.

I don't get why anyone would have a Spok signed by him.

  • i had a brilliant conversation with another cyclist yesterday

he was trying to draught me, when the lights ahead changed to red i skidded to a halt and he just missed running into me.

DJ - you should be more careful draughting fixed gear riders, our braking is very different to a freewheel bike

idiot - but you should not be on the road playing games

DJ- what games, i was cycling along and you almost ran into me because you were trying to race me

idiot - stop poncing around on your poncy fixie and get a real bike

DJ - in what way am i poncing around

idiot - just look at you playing games riding around and get a real bike

DJ - I have a (and almost said real bike) road bike but use the fixed in town - (i omitted to mention it was probably just a little better than his), in what way am i poncing around

idiot - i also have a fixie at home but dont ride it like you do

DJ- you just called me a ponce for riding a fixed gear bike, yet you ride one yourself. You are clearly a complete and utter fucking idiot, you were the one who almost ran into me when you tried to race me and i cannot be bothered to argue with you, so fuck off

    That was tynan.

  • F.E.A.R. might well be a seminal song. Probably what his wife was feeling when Ian showed her the back of his hand in the early hours of Monday morning. Mind you, he does have a bit of history with anger management issues - wasn't he detained for threatening to chop off an air hostesses hands a few years back?

  • That was tynan.

    Yes, me.

    Golden times.

This sounds interesting, fucking Brown, the fucking woman killer . . . . can you point me to the data to support these claims ?

Two points to bear in mind.

    1) Newspapers articles are not admissible in court for good reason.

    2) 'Data' is not the plural of 'anecdote'.

What have you got ? Newspaper articles ?

    Not admissable

In 1998, he was sentenced to four months in jail for using threatening behaviour towards an aeroplane captain and stewardess.

We all know that. And how many others have done the same on the plane?

  • Evidence was asked for, the fact he went to prison suggests that there was enough.

  • We all know that. And how many others have done the same on the plane?

Er, never. Jesus, isn't it bad enough that an aeroplane is a collection of the worlds cheapest manufactured parts without you or Ian Brown threatening the staff?

You've never flown on a charter flight have you. It is all too frequent.

  • I'll forgive the fact that he's a Man Utd fan because he is actually from Manchester - unlike the vast majority of Utd fans, but whacking his wife? He's as big a cunt as James Martin. Vile little man.

The point Tynan is trying to make is that this is only an accusation, and not yet fact. Innocent until proven guilty.

If I fly long haul I usually take a valium with a large brandy and wake up at my destination feeling brand new. The ipod was invented for all other shorter aviation journeys.

Good point well made. I wonder if Fabiola will press charges.

  • If it is true, then I hope she does.

  • I bet John Squire has never lamped his wife.

  • Maybe not, but he did make us all suffer.

  • Squire is the only one who wants to re-unite. He's spent his money and none of his "art" sold. What's wrong with these people? Invest wisely - not like Moon, like Daltrey!

  • I bet John Squire has never lamped his wife.

    Not with that wrist...
