Are they still holding out? Amazing. I hadn't heard anything for ages and thought they'd been moved on.

Nah, no building work has taken place at all.

They've just been evicted!!!
Nasty men came round at 10am this morning and got in when someone opened the door to put out the rubbish. They're boarding up the building, while the couriers are out on the pavement sitting on their bags.

The first lot of people - who, with hindsight, were totally whack - did indeed move on. Then the couriers/regulars took over, and made it great again.

What a shame the end of an era

Not really. It had it's time and there was a bad vibe around the place towards the end.People were being robbed and two couriers had their bikes stripped while they were inside. That never happened before.

That was tynan.
Yeah,sure.
-
• #388
Yes, that was me, I fucking done it.

There were some Polish/Russian tramps/smackheads hanging around outside when the chairs were out there a month or two ago. One night one of them came in with a bike that he wanted a tenner for. He'd obviously just stolen it.
I was really pissed off that the squatters - not James, the last lot - were totally feeble and pathetic, sending him on his way, but not rescuing the bike. The couriers, I'm sure, would have dealt with him properly.

Wonder if many people will be heading down there tonight and tomorrow? Can't see the couriers going anywhere else...

• #392
quite a few outside when I walked passed at 7

That's shit :-(
James was running a very nice, but fairly tight ship when last I was there. Excellent jazz jamming too. I'll miss the place.

Turn up tonight guys!!!
-
• #395
Will bob down for a couple o tins, well i really mean walk across the road from my house but i'll be there :)
-
• #396
How was it? There was a band playing outside? Was it beautifully chaotic or a damp squib?
-
• #397
Yeah thats it. So instead of great music, good times, and community service we're gonna get Park Plaza hotel @ £100 a night. No justice. And to all the haters of the Foundry who tried to tell everyone it wouldn't work and it wasnt worth bothering with - congratulations, enjoy your new hotel.
To everyone else involved - what an amazing summer we all had - big salute to you all. So many bands / artists to thank for playing and a big thanks to YOU if you came down.

today it's the setting for a VW ad... pisses me right off, I was in a great mood coming from a morning swim, and now i might be in a fucking ad
Hilarious - no, it was frankly embarrassing! Curse that microphone!
There was a nice local lady there who has been letting the squatters use her shower. But she was soon scared off by the attentions of an amorous tramp, one of a pair who've joined the group since it moved outside.
A move back inside is imminent!
