It looks like an antelope that was caught in a forest fire.
and was put out with a sledgehammer before being coated in bitumen and set back on fire

• #32

Agreed - shame to puppy kill the bike, but its his to do what he wants.

It's done now, and you've built a bike that is presumably a good fit and you'll get a lot of use out of (which is arguably more important than looks), so a moot point really, but the Gitane was a retro blue geared bike, and you wanted a modern black singlespeed, so why not ditch the Gitane and just buy an OTP black singlespeed instead of instead of sticking bits from the two together?

Aslong as he/she will ride, who really gives a shit.
Give the guy a break.

I think the personal digs were completely uncalled for, but anyone is entitled to their opinion on a bike/build here, it is a bike forum after all?

i think he was given the bike for free. we can't all afford to buy a new bike just like that.

Shh don't tell anyone it's an OTP!!! i want it to look like a unipack that i have had for years, in fact it look so old people would think i invented this fixed gear shit.

I think this entire thread is one mute point really badly worded and missing pictures of cake.
@ the OP - what an utter tool you would have felt if that had been Anquetil's very piece of steel that he was on when he won the Grand Prix des Nation for the 9th time. with that in mind i would have kept very quiet and posted a picture in current projects eh

All the more reason to wait and buy something fit for purpose/that's actually the bike you want?
If we're going to get into the economics of it then I'm genuinely curious, because all the parts used in the new build are fairly standrd issue on OTP's - halo track wheels, charge spoon etc - buying those components as part of an otp whole bike is much cheaper than buying them as indivual items.
-

The bike was given away for free, which I assume means it was'nt being used.
Bike being used > Bike not being used.
(although
Pecan toffee cake > burnt antelope bike)

yeah but waiting and saving is BORING!
