  • decided I'm going to get the train from Clapham Junc. to Woldingham and ride the last 4 miles from there.

  • Ooff - that hill up to Woldingham straight from the train station will be the hardest climb of the day for you then!

  • ^ looks okay on gmaps...

    Al, you smooth talker.

I assume you will be heading down by Elmers End, on the way to West Wickham? Will give a call tonight, to confirm arrangements to catch up with you fine riders, and shall make sure I have a bungee with me.

So I completely didn't register that I couldn't get there by train in time when I signed up. Not that the ride from Brixton is exactly arduous. Not sure exactly when the Almac peleton is planning to pass through, but think I might set off a bit earlier so it's not a rush to the start.

  • Catford will be okay with you starting later if there are no earlier trains. We plan to be at CSG at 07.45h.

  • I live just round the corner from Charles Darwin school, where the ride starts, so I know the route up to there pretty well. It's at the top of a hill so there's no way to avoid the ups ...

The easiest way is probably from Bromley South, along the A21, turn right on the A233, then up and over the hill and turn left to Downe and continue all the way along Luxted and Single Street. From Orpington it's quite straightforward as well, going along Shire Lane and then up to Downe via High Elms.

From Knockholt there's an awesome route you can take by the lanes, by going up Rushmore Hill and then turning right up Norsted Lane.
