There were a couple of sketchy bits (or so I thought anyway) on the Surrey Hills when I did them a few weeks ago. Plus I almost shat myself going down the first descent. Did not expect it to be so damn steep! Might need to get me some new brake pads if we're doing Surrey. :)

How about this then? We can halve it out before Chinnor and come back via Marlow if it looks overly ambitious?

I'm really up for getting in on this whatever the weather so long as the second tag applies..

hmmm. how long do you reckon that'll take you guys? -
• #1181
About 4hrs or so for that loop I reckon. Really easy to shorten it down to an equally lovely 45miles or so if people don't want to be out for long or the weather is foul.

I don't mind doing the long route if that's what people fancy doing. I might have to lose the risers though! :) I'll give it a go if the quicker peeps don't mind occasionally waiting for this slow coach.

Groovy. I'll sort out a map for the shorter route as well and maybe head down on saturday on the mo'bike to see what it looks like on the ground if people are keen. Haven't been out that way this year and it can be a bit gravelly etc after rain.

sound reasonable. think i'll give it a go :)

@ stb - defo need to ride soon or i'm gonna go stir crazy. thinking of recceing something for the soon to start TNRC out surrey way. It might have to be saturday though otherwise I'll put it out there for everyone as long as folk don't mind rolling on a recce ride and all that entails about map checks and doubling back etc.

Surely we're going to fit in the Surrey Hills TNRC ride for SMTNRC before the season ends. I've been training by eating, errr, kebabs.*
Doubt I'll be able to do many TNRC's this year, I've a temp job to start in a fortnight with 6am starts! Local-ish, plan to ride to work, does involve leaving the house at 5am.

Anyone still in for sunday? Going to map out a 45 mile route via xmas common and marlow instead. Could be a HTFU club outing if the weather stays like this....I am determined. (Or potentially undermined indeedy...)

@ clintsmoker
I won't make for sat, I'm quite bad with blocked nose and cough, I'm very fucking sorry!!
Bad luck riding is still on air. Looking forward to future bright times. -
• #1197
i'd be up for a 45 miler on sunday
-
• #1198
you in JD?
Yeah for about 4.5 miles! Where is the ride leaving from?
-
• #1199
is it crazy to suggest riding to the coast on this thread? is that a bit too far? (given the stipulations of smtnrc (40 milers))?
-
• #1200
Yeah. There will be plenty of rides to the coasts if the weather ever improves
Yep - time to man up.
I'd be happy to plot a route around the chilterns / thames valley. Slough is easiest to start for me as there's a fast train from Paddington.
Could also do surrey hills but it was muddy and slippery as hell when I was down there a couple of weeks back.
