Anyone buying a phone with a non-user replaceable battery, is mad.
Mad as a dog smoking weed, then drinking gin from his water bowl. -

Anyone know if the samsung s3 in black is being sold anywhere in london yet?
Not black - but there is a titanium grey available from EE - which is actually the LTE version of the S3. I think the tech specs are subtly different as well. The battery life is shorter because of the LTE chipset. I want to get one as well - but I don't want the 4G contract.

When you add your google account it will sync your contacts, calendars and email automatically. Or am I missing something in your question?

yup - theyre still as they would be on my iphone... How do i move my contacts from an iPhone contacts to google contacts without using iTunes?

@Chainbreaker - On the iPhone add your google account but do it as an 'Exchange' account. Actually just follow these instructions.
http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138740
At some point it will ask you what you want to do with the contacts on your phone. I can't remember the exact question. But the result will be either to add your local contacts to gmail or not. Now if these contacts already exists in gmail you will end up with lots of duplicates. Which could be a problem, comes down to how many contacts you have in total I suppose. Merging entries in the gmail contacts webapp is quite easy.

Carphone Warehouse has the Nexus 7 32 GB down to £179 and stock in stores.
Nexus 4 SIM free also in stock @ £389 :(
The N4 isnt in stock in stores & they are taking pre-orders
"FREE delivery to you(UK Mainland only) Pre order - stock coming soon"
In the US Google started taking pre orders yesterday (With a 9 week lead time) - No news on when they are going to set up pre-ordering here though.
I'm also tempted by a Nexus 7 at that price.

It's fucked, the auto sleep thing doesn't work, just goes off randomly. Meaning I can't unlock it half the time because it thinks the cover is still closed.

Just been looking at my location history at https://www.google.co.uk/latitude
Didn't realise that my phone had been tracking my every movement and uploading it to google, it's like having Strava on 24/7 (and also somewhat depressing when it shows you a pie chart with how much time you spend at the office).

Looks like it's opt-in.
Google Location History is not yet enabled for your Google Account. Please enable Location History and check back in a few days to allow for enough location history to be collected.

It is opt-in, they ask you in plain English the first time you used a recent version of Google Maps whether you would like the information recorded.
It is private by default, and only you and Google can see it. Google uses the information to improve the utility and function of Google Now.
Though you can opt to also add friends and family to Latitude so that your current position (to some degree of vagueness that you determine) is shared with them.
I actually like Latitude. For the simple things of meeting my girl in town and not needing to call her every 5 minutes... I just check the map and head to where she is. And for the occasional rides with forumengers to see where they are when we're waiting for them to turn up (or if I'm joining a ride late it's easier to see where the group is).
I barely check it, but when I do it's nice to have.
Location History is mostly to help you improve Google Now. It will occasionally guess wrong where you've been, and what you've been up to. You can correct it using Location History by telling it where you actually were.
Bear in mind... telcos have always known all of this, and the police could always get access to it. All that Google have done is to give you access to your own data so that it is of utility and value to you. Turning it off in no way reduces the ability for third parties to get the information out of the telcos.

Perhaps I should also note that I actually split my Google experience because I did find a level of creepiness too hard to handle and I disliked Google+ interfering with things.
So I have 2 Google accounts, and I split services thus:
- Mail
- Calendar
- Contacts
- Drive
- Talk
- Chrome Sync
- Google+
- Latitude
- Play Store
- Search History
The buro9.com account is a Google Apps account and as domain admin I've disabled advert tracking and everything (Google+ is physically disabled, etc). This account is my main account.
The gmail.com account is a regular account and basically is where I direct all information gathering services.
As much as possible I seek to preserve the sanctity of my email, contacts, schedule and documents. Everything else is a lower-class form of data and I allow that to pollute another account.

They telco's and the coppers (if they paid for it) had access to which cell tower(s) you were connected to, and if you logged into specific WiFi access points, but they've not had "to the nearest three metres" GPS coordinates for you- that's a difference surely?
Also the info was generally historical rather than real time.
Not that I really care, to be honest, but it's worth noting that Google increasingly allows us to give up information about ourselves that was either unobtainable, innacurate and/or very expensive to obtain previously.

I'm quite intrigued if location history would be admissible in court, as I couldn't have done this crime as I was here...
Obviously would have to somehow prove you were with your phone I guess...
fuck you.
