Facebook just purchased Instagram.
Some of you might find this useful:

Why is it a big deal that FB has bought it? I dont get it.

FB policy is that any photo hosted via their site, belongs to them.

No it isn't - you just give them rights to share said photo.
It is a necessary evil to grant a license to Facebook to display your photo, otherwise they could not show it to people viewing Facebook

Give it 6 months and you'll need a fb account to login.
But props to instagram for growing a business like that though.

I thought I had an instagram account from when I had an iphone a few years back. It seems I either can't remember the details, or it doesn't exist. No record in either of my email addresses.
As soon as Spotify started using the Facebook authentication I ditched them. Having serious thoughts about ditching my Facebook account.

I actually quite like instagram - I've been using it most days, kind of a photo diary more than anything else.
I think the photos look quite good with a filter although if you use Vignette (which is better imo) you can take pictures with that instead of the default camera in instagram and don't apply any insta filters.

Any suggestions for custom roms for HTC sensation?

Dug out my old eee pc 701 4G today as I was having a bit of a clear out. For those that don't know this was one of the 1st 'Netbooks'.
Turns out you can install Android on it and it works really well. I'm typing this on it now after installing ICS. If anyone's interested I downloaded the iso from here:
It's a bit weird running on a tiny tiny laptop but it does work. Will stop me shelling out for a tablet for a while.

I should have been clearer. Belongs was too strong. No it isn't - you just give them rights to share said photo.

The license is not just so that other indivual Facebook users can see your pictures and whatnot. Its more sophisticated than that, and more opportunistic. Its hardly a public service.Facebook Legal Terms (and conditions):
2. Sharing Your Content and Information
*You own all of the content and information you post on Facebook, and you can control how it is shared through your privacy and application settings. In addition: *
*1.For content that is covered by intellectual property rights, like photos and videos (IP content), you specifically give us the following permission, subject to your privacy and application settings: you grant us a non-exclusive[1], transferable[2], sub-licensable[3], royalty-free[4], worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook (IP License). This IP License ends when you delete your IP content or your account unless your content has been shared with others, and they have not deleted it.*
As I see it.......
[1] non-exclusive - The rights are yours, but licensed to Facebook....and anybody else that you choose.
[2] transferable - Facebook may transfer the content
[3] sub-licensable - Facebook may license the content to others
[4] royalty free - Facebook will not have to pay you for usage of your contentSo, they don't own it (I should have phrased it better), but they can more or less do what they want with it, as long as its allowed within your settings. And even better, its royalty free to them, but they are hardly likely to let third party companies use their licensed content for free.....of course they will charge them. You however, will not be party of that cosy relationship.

[2] transferable - Facebook may transfer the content
I think this means that they can actually transfer the license you are granting them onto a 3rd party, together with your content.
So "You give us permission to transfer this license (and your content) to a 3rd party"

Got a call from T-Mobile offering me an early upgrade. I can get the HTC One-X (my choice, not prompted) on my current plan for a one off additional charge of £90. I was going to upgrade and tie back in to 24 months anyway so the early offer is just a bonus. Just need to decide if the One-X is the one. Reviews look good.

One-X looks good, I'll be waiting for galaxy S3 though

I don't want to get into a round of "but this will be out in 2 months" as you could do that forever. I am more concerned about bang for buck right now. That method served me well with the Desire and the One-X seems to be a return to force by HTC by all accounts

I agree. I am weighing up my next upgrade, and the HTC One X(L) is currently high on my shortlist. Principal amongst my considerations, is its extremely impressive camera abilities.
99 images can be taken in one minute!!!!!
Photos can be taken AT THE SAME TIME as video is being recorded.
Sound is from Beats..........though this is never ever going to be a factor for me. -
• #7420
It looks a well good phone, I think I'd miss the beautiful blacks of an AMOLED screen though.
-
• #7421
The HTC One X(L) will probably need a software update to further improve the image quality, as tests show that the ability is there, but the quality is lacking a bit. I'm holding out to compare the Sony Ion and the Samsung Galaxy S III.

I'm pretty much sick of blackberries now and am eyeing android. Is it relatively simple to root them and get to the linux-y goodness below? Ie: a real terminal app?
-

Ashe, are you already thinking about your next phone? You seem pretty enamoured by the Note atm.
I like the look of the Note, I'm not put off by the size at all, however I have grown attached to my qwerty hard keyboard. No Android phone on the market newer than my Desire Z offers this. Disappoint.

Pretty easy depending on what model of phone you go for.
What you thinking of?

Probably a htc one X. I've played with a few android phones and the only ones that don't feel like plastic toys were htc...
Really out of touch with their rom situation atm, one moment they're all locked, the next they aren't.Tldr; a htc with an unlocked rom.
You can try to re-calibrate your battery using these options.........
