Same set up. Not really noticed the problem EXCEPT a few days ago I couldn't get the phone to mount. I think I rebooted it and it was fine?

they are slow to charge by USB yes...that's just USB though

My Streak charges much slower on USB as did my blackberry. I think all phones do. After the 2.2 update, no longer syncs contacts automatically. Have to tell the phone it is connected. That's progress.
As a side note, can the forward facing camera for video calling on Skype? Not sure if all phones have this.

May not be terribly interesting, but the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 finally gets Froyo, via a custom ROM of course, but a good one it seems. Fast too. It's called the FreeX10, and is shown with its benchmarked test here: http://smartphonebenchmarks.com/ (look down the list)
EDIT:
I just realised that the Xperia X10, with the FreeX10 software ROM-bypass (Froyo 2.2), is faster in this benchmark than the LG Optimus 2X (dual core cpu), and only slightly less fast than the HTC Desire HD that is running at 49% overclocked. I knew it was a good phone. Shame Sony Ericsson wouldn't give it the support it deserved. -

Not updating anything unless it's offical after my last root which ended up having to replace with a new handset.
I got James Samsung Galaxy Europa pay as you go. He didn't want a contract phone but didn't want a expensive phone either. He seems really happy with it. So :)
I want September to come already. Me wants the Desire HD.

I may leave T-Mobile when I next do upgrades or new purchases. Their new 500MB allowance with upgrades is a joke.
I have 10GB-per-month contract, so unless I leave them, or buy a new phone outright, I'm screwed. -

re: my 'device not recognised' problem up there^^ it seems it may be my cable's fault. After a weekend with the missus I accidently left my charger behind. Since I don't have a spare I bought a new micro usb cable as a stop gap measure between getting it back (£1.50 for a nokia one off amazon that came the next day which was nice). According to a chap on the internet who had exactly the same problem as me tried everything but found as he wasn't using his original cable at the time, it messed up.
I'll have to wait and see if it's true for me too (hadn't tried syncing before losing the cable and only connected now to charge) but I don't really understand why such a problem would arise.

http://www.intomobile.com/2011/02/28/htc-android-updates-gingerbread/
Good news for the HTC Desire HD, Desire Z, Desire and Incredible S owners – the Gingerbread is heading your way with the arrival date set at some point in the second quarter of this year. The hint comes from Slashgear who managed to “make” the company’s spokesperson confirm the information. He/she said: “We are excited to announce that the Desire HD, Desire Z, Desire and Incredible S will receive the Gingerbread update in Q2.”

Anyone else have the same problem as me?
HTC Desire, Windows 7 64-bit. When I connect via USB the device isn't recognised so I can't sync or explore the drive. I've also noticed a really slow charge rate when connected to USB.
Slow charge rate I attributed to it being on USB and having a lower power the port could output.
I am running Windows 6 .. 64bit and it is recognised as a storage device .. I don't bother with sync etc ... so I am clueless there.

Hmmm... 85 pages.
If there's 3 things I should do / install / cry happily (or sadly) about realting to the HTC Desire HD, what should they be? Got one today, unexpectedly.

worry not, hippy doesn't like samsung as they dont provide quick updates...
Samsung galaxy s is due to get 2.3.2 in March officially through samsung... which oddly enough is quicker than htc... maybe they have realised that they are about 1 year ahead of htc in hardware and need to match it with software too...
needless to say im quite surprised... however 2.3 is a non story really... nothing has changed really...

And... Yelp
task killer..
There's a debate wenether task killer does more damage than good.
