I think John Biggs has missed the point somewhat. Platform providers will always seek to work with a lead manufacturer when releasing a new version of the platform, as it helps them iron out the problems and get a device to market. Motorola desperately need a successful high end device so it's no surprise they've leapt at the chance either.
The issue I raised on the other thread is kind of related here, but only tenuously, namely the governance of the Android platform. Google have total control there and this will almost certainly lead to problems in the future.

I've got the Hero and played with the HD2 when a guy brought one into work the other day, The hd2 is BIG slim but big kinda like they got the iphone and squashed it.
The guy who had it who previously had a hero likes it but did prefer the android system over it. the camera on the hero i think personally is pretty shit if you happen to use it on 02 as well you can't use MMS yet.good deal on the hd2 here
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/522920/htc-touch-hd2-35-a-month-awesome-phThanks, but I already got a contract which is also with Tmobile: "Flext 35 + web'n'walk (18 months) £34.04PM
Your plan includes:
£200
Your credit can be used up on UK calls, texts and picture messages. VAT saving: Your allowance and costs to call, text and send pictures have reduced and show on your bills.
web surfing and e-mails
Unlimited* internet browsing and email on the move."Definitely waiting for that contract to finish next year, so I can get even better deal with text messages (O2 or Orange) than what Tmobile has to offer with this monthly price.
Just looking for the handset. Look like I will definitely go with the Hero after all, and carry that compact camera, har har :)

the HTC HD2 is the best hardware on the market, i reckon (it's almost pornographic) and HTC has done a brilliant job of hiding WinMo... but you can only hide WinMo so much: http://gizmodo.com/5400593/htc-touch-hd2-review-a-tragedy
the HD2 has the best weather widget I have ever seen, though.
So basically: of the two mentioned, HD2 is the best hardware, Hero has better software for the average user (although they both have the HTC Sense UI).

I THINK, I'm looking for better software. So, yeah Hero!
Thanks everyone :)

Hero is a good phone. Unless you have a specific need for WinMo i'd say it's a better choice.

I had a weather widget.. then realised it was slightly dumb. You KNOW what the weather is doing and if you want a prediction (which, in the UK will always be wrong anyway) just use the browser with metcheck or some shit bookmarked. Save your device's precious memory and cpu cycles.

http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/16/new-xperia-x10-hands-on-video-brings-the-snappy/
Sony Ericsson's Android-based XPERIA X10 was mighty sluggish when we played with it at the launch a couple weeks ago, but this new video from hdblog.it shows what looks like a much newer software build that's dramatically faster and more responsive. There's nothing much new here in terms of features, but just the fact that the X10 is in the wild and running well is encouraging -- especially since we're really digging that media playback interface. Now all we need is some Stateside shipping details and we'll be all set. Video after the break.

I get home and find a shiny silver Special Delivery bag waiting for me, rip it open to find that at least one of T-Mobile's sales staff cannot differentiate between two similarly named products. :(
Order T-Mobile G2 Touch
Get HTC Touch 2And a week to get it turned around with return of this handset and receipt and sending the correct one.
