  • I'm in London's famous London!

Just checked and still no update, but sounds like it's being slowly rolled out. I always seem to get these updates later than everyone says, not just with this phone either.

  • It was 22nd Aug. My mate was asking about his friend's 6P not getting it yet so I sent some tricks to prompt the update.

sits back, with old Sony version and chuckles knowingly at 'update panic'

    lights pipe

  • My update arrived yesterday evening, it's almost as if it heard me moaning about the lack of update.

Actually, I have Google Now which I'm pretty sure listens in to what I say so it probably actually did.

  • Me too, update panic quelled...

  • Google Now steals your soul (and wastes loads of battery)

  • My wife got the Nougat update on her 5x almost the day it was announced.

I'd checked factory images for the 6p and they were not available. Word on the street is that the 6p Nougat build had serious battery drain issues and so they held it back and didn't release it.

I'm actually still on MTC20F whilst MTC20L has been available for a few days. I think they held that back from OTA too as Nougat was so close.

In fact, checking the factory image list for 6p (angler) phones, the Android 7 release is now out:

So it should be very soon now.

  • Hey guys
anyone thats in the market for a cheap android phone, I got a bluboo x9 from gearbest (review here: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/review/budget-smartphones/bluboo-x9-budget-4g-phone-review-3633936/)
cos I wanted to try a cheap chinese phone. It was £85 inc postage from the HK warehouse, no customs charge. All seems good so far (its bigger than I wanted, but I forgot to check that), it feels good quality, hasn't broken yet. I have a 64gb micro sd in it so it's also my ipod replacement with some blue tooth headphones. Screen is good. camera is good. apps work. etc. etc.
I'll let you know if it blows up.

  • I've got a HTC Sensation and a Galaxy Nexus I should get rid of.

  • My Sony Xperia Z3 compact hate intensifies..

After the latest update it is difficult to swipe down the notification bar from the top of the screen. And worse, the three "buttons" along the bottom of the screen do not work at all.

This means I can't select 'home' or 'back' rendering the phone effectively useless. The Sony support forums are awash with reports of these issues from mutiple users but Sony has no solution.

The only reason I haven't binned my phone is because of a workaround. I downloaded an app called "Back button" to add an ugly side bar with the functionality I had lost.

    What the actual fuck Sony!!

  • Ringke case arrived for my N5x, it's nice... Battery life is better than my old N5 but not loads better... I think it may be the PIA VPN that's draining lots of background power, will need to do a bit of investigating...

Do not drop the 5x. It doesn't do well. My 5 would weather it well. The 5x dents and scuffs very easily. I also broke the screen. But it replaced very easily. 30 minutes with a butter knife.

  • What is the latest update? What version number?

  • Marshmallow 6.0.1 I think, I took my phone in for repairs on Saturday.

The O2 shop said it was a known issue but Sony hadn't advised them further either. My phone was in warranty until the end of this month luckily. I'll report back once I get my phone back.

  • I bought missus 5x last week and as soon as she started it nougat update was the first thing ..

  • Oh, I'm already on 6.0.1 and have no issues. Is it hardware or software issue?

  • I strongly suspect a software issue. There are reports of the same issue from all over the world from people with phones of all ages, I don;t think it could be a hardware fault for that many devices just after an update, it's too much of a coincidence.

  • Which version of patches are you on? Mine's May

  • My phone is now with the repairs crew so I can't check, I'm sure yours will be fiiiiine*.

*If it breaks send it in for repairs pronto and push it as a software issue. If they can claim it as hardware then they can push the blame on to you then you'd have to pay for repairs.

  • If mine starts suffering from software issue(s) it'll be rooted and flashed and won't be covered under warranty anyway.

  • Careful rooting it, apparently it fucks with the camera.

  • Worse in low light. So probably still better than the N5 I had.

  • FFS - I have downloaded and installed Android 7 three times now. But when I power my phone back up nothing has changed and there is an immovable notification, suggesting I need to download and install Android 7

  • Did you have a modified 'droid 6 install?

  • nope

  • Ordered a 5x its gets delivered tomorrow but as I'm retarded I'm getting it sent to my house even though I will be at work. Still I'm looking forward to having a new phone!

  • If your disability is mainly address based I'm sure you'll enjoy most of the features of your new phone, except maybe Google maps.
