  • My 2+ year old Note 2 has stopped charging the battery. Tried new battery, cables, plugs etc but it appears that the phone just cant bothered anymore...

    Anyone got any suggestions?

    Cheers.

Is it any good then? Or will it be a newer but worse version of my Nexus 4?

  • Will it turn on at all? What if you have it connected to PC via USB? Will it switch on/recognise it? Could it be the USB connector on the phone rather than battery?

  • Have you tried charging the battery out of the phone or fitting a wireless charging module (I seem to remember this is 30 seconds of a job on a Note 2). As above, it could be the USB connector.

  • Turns on fine, The new battery had 50% charge on it.

But, no it isn't recognised as a USB device, so the usb port is a bit shagged?

I can try charging the battery outside the phone. I'll rig up a charger now.

  • Looks like the USB is a separate board, so relatively cheap and easy to replace: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-GT-N7100-Replacement/dp/B00AOFXW38

  • Or a wireless charger module http://www.amazon.co.uk/DigiYes%C2%AE-standard-Wireless-Charger-Receiver/dp/B00DYQ7D4S/ just slots straight in (although you will need a wireless charger and it does charge slower).

  • Hmm, with the phone off, inserting the usb cable brings up the empty battery with 3 arrows image... But not much else.

  • Hmm, looking online it seems to be the USB charging port and looks fairly common. Replacement fixes it.

I had an issue with my old S3 where the headphone jack would break after about 6 months. Easy enough to swap out the module but shame it had to be done about 4 times over the 2 or 3 years of owning the phone.

  • GRRRRR!!! I haz a "!" in my signal bar, and no internet. Nexus 5 on giffgaff.
    plz helps. wifi is fine.

  • Cuz GuffGuff is shit probably... I had it for my last month in the UK, had that problem the whole time... Useless...

  • GiffGaff works fine everywhere except my home and my office. While I sleep it's pretty much flawless.

  • You must be indoors.

  • Giffgaff are shite, no?

  • I used to like using passbook on my iphone. passbookgoing to download the Android versionversion, is there a better app anyone would recommendrecommend?

  • had this weird thing start in past couple of weeks - Sony Z2 standard, no custom ROM - handcent SMS and Nova launcher - text comes in whilst on lock screen and screen display starts to flicker making unlocking using locl screen pattern impossible - have to restart phone - handcent support advised upgrading to next SMS - still the same - have gone back to stock Sony home screen/launcher - still happening - weird

  • Wow that's annoying. I wonder if its a hardware problem. Sorry I don't have any useful info...

  • I'm getting pissed off with Handcent, it is shit with MMS stuff... I may have to start using Hangouts after all... :/

  • I dont get all the hangouts hate - it might just be ignorance of better alternatives but its generally fine.

  • It's fine for instant messaging, I'd just prefer a dedicated SMS app that looks good and does what it's supposed to...

  • ^ it's slowed to a total crawl on my phone also

  • What about Textra?

  • You might need to enter APN?

(Soz, just noticed this was last week)

  • OK just uninstalled Handcent/Next SMS and it doesn't occur - so looks like I need a new SMS app - Textra you say? Anyone using Evolve?

  • OK Textra is better than Evolve
