  • Still a pretty rockin' phone. I hope it's not a flash in the history of budget-but-good smart phones, but instead there remains a decent equivalent in future phone generations.

  • So I should stop looking and just friggin buy one?

  • Dual sim as well as CDMA in India; was a surprise!

Now my mum uses a cheap data card and a cheap calling card #boom

  • So I should stop looking and just friggin buy one?

    Just friggin' buy one...

  • I forgot you was in foreign, Jaw.

    As you were.

  • So, who's the winner?

  • £150 for a 16GB Moto G drug dealer version.

I can post if anyone wants one.

  • No 4g though, otherwise I'd be straight in there.

  • Turns out Plex had been working fine all along... User error...

No more flash drive copying... :)

  • Anyone used Plex to stream videos from the web? Need to get ready for Paris-Roubaix.

  • Their add on channel streams work fine, not tried it for random streams off the net though. Have done it with VLC in the past.

  • Might see if I can do it for the Liverpool Citeh game.

  • Going to try the MyPlex Queue thing. Can't test it until the servers start. Hopefully there are some decent quality streams.

  • How To please...

  • Actually I'm not going to bother as it's on sky and I have a sky go jobbie on the Xbox for free. I might spend some time looking into it for pornfuture sporting events though

  • So is the Nexus 5 still the go to Android phone?

I'm a bit split because the N5 looks like a good deal (especially if I buy it while I'm in the US) but two of the main things I want is good battery life, a decent camera which seem to be the N5's shortcomings (according to online reviews). Other than that I'll be happy if it works smoothly, has good signal and is sufficiently sturdy to survive a relatively normal active life.

Presumably, even if the camera and battery on the N5 isn't great it'll be better than my current HTC sensation which is ghastly.

What other options should I be looking at?

    4-5 hours screen on time.
If you turn off location reporting its easy to get 48 hours on a charge with that much SOT.
Of course two or three long phone conversations will chew up battery.

  • picked up chromecast on last visit to UK, bought second hand router with dd-wrt pre-installed, installed my vpn on router.....chromecast now plays iplayer here in Germany, so far looks and sounds much better than through my previous setup of netbook plugged in to telly.

  • Smashed my N5 screen. Cock. Probably going to pay someone to replace it.

Was having difficulties ending calls as the smashed bit is over the sensor that detects when you've moved the phone away from your ear and then wakes up the screen. Resulted in some humorous messages being left. Found an app that allows you to end the call with the power button so my annoyance is slightly abated.

  • You don't need an app for that, end call with power button is an option under accessibility settings.

    Ah! Even better! Cheers!

  • Bought Mrs Prole a Moto G for her birthday and she's ecstatic with it, this is from someone who refused to use a touchscreen phone until dropped her blackberry down the toilet and had to borrow my HTC (she hated it).

In the market for a new phone myself now, but don't want to spends £35+ a month for an S5, what's the best handset from last years models?

  • Lg g2.

And if you want a bargain, I have one with a broken screen and a replacement screen ready to be installed. All it needs is someone tech savvy and brave enough to put the two together.
