  • My Galaxy Nexus update came through on Saturday. Can't really see much difference other than MX Player doesn't work and some of my Tasker/Secure Settings things don't work.

Anyone know whether the Galaxy Nexus now has Bluetooth 4?

    EDIT - looks like it won't https://plus.google.com/116110604589325140832/posts/VsF1BcaFY1g

  • Give it a few days - the TRIM command is a once every 24 hr occurrence and only if its plugged in, afaict.

  • Just forced the update, cheers Mr Swold

Also an Android OS. It's a dual OS phone.

  • andyp got told. Probably the only time I'll ever see that. :-)

  • It turns out that updating to 4.3 on my Galaxy Nexus has caused me to loose root. Is it easy to root again with 4.3 (I seem to remember I used the toolkit last time).

Does root wipe everything? I tried to back up my phone via CWM last night but as it's pretty full there isn't enough space to back up with there being no sd card.

I tried having a read of the xda forums but got lost in hundreds of posts.

  • You can re-root.

Just dig out whatever guide you used and skip the first bit (boot unlocking), and the last bit (custom ROM installation)... and just do the middle bit of "gain root".

  • OK I found a way of doing the transfer using a Micro SD card if you do not want to use Garmin Connect to build a course.

Leave the Edge configured to use the internal storage.

Create the following directory structure on a Micro SD card.

    Garmin\Activities
    Garmin\Courses
    Garmin\NewFiles
    Garmin\SQL
    Garmin\Workouts

Put the card in to the Galaxy and download the GPX course to the Garmin\NewFiles folder on the card. Take the card out and put it in the Edge. Switch the Edge on and it will process the GPX file on the card and create the course and place it in the Garmin\Courses folder on the Edge.

It took a little playing around to get the Galaxy to download the file as a GPX file from the site I was using. I was using BikerouteToaster and needed to use Opera as the web browser to keep the gpx file extension otherwise it got changed to html.
The Galaxy download the file to a download directory on the Galaxy so I then moved it to the correct directory on the SD card.

    This just worked perfectly.

I created the course in Ride With GPS, saved it, downloaded it to the Note, put the SD card into the reader, used Astro file manager to copy the file from Downloads and then paste it into New Files on the SD card.

Put the SD card in the 800, turned it on and wallop- course ready to ride.

  • Holy Schmoly... how big is your phone? I think you're compensating for something there.

  • It's a small tablet really, and bought for that function- I have another phone for actual speaking to people at a distance duties.

The stylus makes plotting routes very easy, which is a win in my book.

  • Also I'd like to point out that I have a massive penis.

  • Umm actually you can't just re root. 4.3 users a different selinux configuration that renders rooting a stock ROM currently impossible. Need to rom to root now. Until someone figures out an exploit our workaround.

  • Eh ? XDA has a few guides on re-rooting Galaxy Nexus running 4.3 stock.

    remember, always check XDA :)

  • hmm yeah I can see that. So you can root it... but root is not what you are used to.

SELinux is fun and a bitch at the same time.

  • anyone using a twitter app that doesn't soak up all the memory (or can be moved to an SD card)? my stock one saves EVERYTHING all of the time so uses up all my phones tiny memory.

  • Can you turn down the amount of tweets it shows? Or reduce it's caching so it uses less memory?

  • nah, my phones not that functional, its just a motorola defy mini (hence the tiny memory).

  • Can this twitter app be uninstalled? If not, when you replace it you still have it sitting their taking up space.

  • Or, what about just using the twitter website?

  • Twicca can store tweets on the SD card but a lot of the older clients might not work with the new Twitter API.

  • I can not use the twitter app, if i don't log into into it its not running, taking up minimal space and install another to use instead.
could use the online one but its a ballache. but then so it twitter so meh.

  • cheers, i'll look at twicca..

  • are there any solar / backup chargers that are any good for festivaling for a few days?

    Ta.
