  • What are the little pegs under the top of the rack on this rear rack for? There's 4 of them but I can't seem to find any mention of what they do.

  • Bungee hook points?

  • solvents

You can't make any flavoured beverage without using at least one solvent

  • Solvents and chemicals are bad and we shouldn’t ingest them. M’kay?

  • they're not that comfortable below 5C

They would be for most though, some people just get cold hands. GripGrab make some of the best gloves around IMHO, maybe try the level up? I have a pair of the Polaris model (couple of years old now) and I went down to-16 with them (sunny, no wind).
Also, try merino liners and whatever you buy make sure the tip of your fingers do not touch the end of the glove's fingers (you need to trap some warm air).

  • Ok thanks, it's worth a shot - funnily enough Praxis don't make an EBB and I have an expensive Praxis crankset that I want use fixed and occasionally geared, with rear thru axle.

  • I'm not sure how the eccentric thing is relevant here - unless you are saying you have a BB30 shell in to which some kind of eccentric capability adding adapter has been added? But this would most likely limit you to 24mm spindle cranks anyway. Some photos of the set up might help.

  • The helping / not helping ratio of your posts is quite underwhelming lately.

You see what you want to see. A curious person would have accepted my implied invitation to educate himself about the exact solvents used in decaffeination, the likely quantity carried over into the end product, and the effects that might have on human health.

  • Maybe... Looking at full neoprene gloves like the Diluvio C, my friend swears by them, maybe that's the way to go. I've also thought about getting merino liners inside, but the gloves are already too old and starting to fray.

I once went down to -3C (-5 with wind chill) with the current gloves, my fingertips started sticking inside the glove (rest of the group wasn't comfy either) so we had to stop and turn back. Had coffee instead. To overcompensate, next day I bought a pair of Santini Fjords (they were on sale...) but didn't have a chance to use them so far.

So suitable for 30mm cranks as listed at the bottom.

And the setup is theoretical at the moment, frame not yet built..

  • When I was commuting through the winter neoprene gloves/mitts were death for me, immediately sweated up and then quickly proceeded to freeze. This would have been at much colder temperatures than what you’re looking at though.

  • Such a person wouldn't have started off from the 'solvents are bad, m'kay' starting point though. Their intellectual curiosity would have led them to appreciate the stupidity of such a statement long before expressing it.

  • Neoprene gloves work by keeping a layer of warm sweat between your skin and the fabric. It's not for everyone and not great for commuting IMO (I rinse mine after every ride).
Saying that I know a very experienced Swedish audaxer that swears by Marigold washing up gloves when it's raining...

  • Clingfilm over your socks also works great

  • Ah I did wonder if it was a PF30 to BB30.

Ok that effectively gives you outboard cups so a bit more positive - might be possible to simply shim the NDS bearing ID down to 28mm.

  • I've actually got an M30 BB already, I was hoping you'd say "yeah it's fine, just pop the NDS bearing out and stick it in the new BB, the outer diameter is a standard size and you won't need to fuck around with spacing as they are all 10mm. Oh and by the way no special tools needed".

Hah try extracting a bearing from a cup without a special extractor tool. 2mm shim would be the way to go I think.

  • Thanks man, few options at least.

  • Where can I get this tiny little bolt that goes in the dropout?

  • Clerkenwell Screws

  • The stop screw or the 5mm bolt?

  • probably in a nearby skip, these little screws are ubiquitous on trashed frames

  • I think Amey may struggle to acquire a machine screw of that length, which is threaded along its entire length.
