Hm, hadn't thought of that, you really think there might be a transfer of chemicals/heavy metals to food?

Does anyone want to drive some gear from Vauxhall to Milton Keynes for me/cash on Friday? Have about 5 pelicases and some lightstands that will be ready about 2/3pm. I don't really have time to drive them up myself.
If no one here fancies it - any recommendations for a service that would do this? Quite heavy (but delicate) stuff so don't want to use a courier who might charge me based on weight/space. Really just thinking if anyone has a small van or a car you can fold the seats down on and is at a loose end.

Same Day Courier companies don't charge by weight/volume, only by mileage. If they send a 3m3 600kg small van, you can fill it up or hand the driver an SD card and the price will be the same. If you think you're going to fill it up, ask for an empty van.

Most of the cheap welding gauntlets in the UK, which I use myself for gardening and conservation tasks are imported from Pakistan. No-one is checking the gloves for heavy metal content. Even the cheapest gauntlets are lined to prevent skin contact.

Gives some details.
It may be that you have a responsible manufacturer in Canada. -

Nvm sorry!

I've used these for a couple of years, and ain't dead yet (though the heavy metals point hadn't occurred to me - I presume they're food safe...):

As they are at least double the price of the cheap welding gauntlets, in say, Toolstation,
let's hope someone has done some checking. The chromium in the tanning chemicals is the hexavalent chromium,
you know, the star heavy metal contamination in the water supply in the Erin Brockovich movie.

Thanks, mine are Lincoln Electric branded, made in China of course.
I love the way they smell... -

This is such a weird conversation. Why fuck about with heavy metals and welding gloves in the kitchen? Just walk into a shop and buy a set of oven gloves that look decent. What do they cost, like 5 quid? Are people using them in a different way to me, such that ratty old cotton things don't get the job done?
Anyway to my question: which garish, gaudy, glaring, #cheapskate bar tape?

Should be the response to most of your cheapskatery!
-
• #93715
Ah ha.
The reason I recommend them in the first place is because they insulate so much better than virtually all oven gloves I've had the displeasure to use. -
• #93716
Cheapskatery is the answer, not the question
-

Hmm, interesting. Maybe I'll buy some fancy ones one day but it never occurred that what I have is inadequate

On the topic of oven gloves, are there any that are like a normal glove (with fingers) but don't have massive cuffs that go halfway up your arm? I have one that is like a normal glove but on its way out and all the new ones look like this

How can I service these hubs?
They are on my boy's hand me down balance bike and have got a bit crunchy and sticky.
Tried a spray of wd40 as a first option but think they need something a bit more considered...

Looks like standard cup and cone, no?

Where in London can I go and try a range of Ergon saddles? Thanks

Looks like standard cup and cone, no?
So cone spanners, disassemble, clean, grease reassemble?
Not done that before, but I like learning.

Shout at them until they work.
But yeah. You might need a axle clamp.
Unless they are causing issues whilst used, i.e. have loads of slop in them, I wouldn't touch them :) Quando stuff is cheap and cheerful, you might not be able to make them 'better', but you could waste loads of time trying.

bleurgh, sorry - didn't get these notifications (or rather I didn't see them) - it was in Vauxhall at 2/3 but I've since had the kit hire place arrange a courier for 150 which, if it saves me 8+ hours of being in a car I'm OK with.

guys, question about the capslock, in my new asus laptop there is no light to show that i activated the capslock, so when typing passwords its always impossible to know if they r activated or not, do you know a workaround on windows10 for this? (i dont want to open a word pad and try typing stuff)
