  • Yes. Or put an inline Shiftmate/Jtek/whatever they're called in one of the cables.

  • Fucksticks.

I bought some ALU blanking bolts for a rear brake bolt hole. (Gone disc)

One sheared off and is now stuck. The threads are steel, but the frame is aluminium. So caustic soda is too risky.

I've no pilot drill to try to drill a hole in. Any tips?

  • Struggling to find a 10 speed SRAM rear mech that will work with a 11-42 cassette.

I think...that's because there aren't any that officially work with such a large cog. 10 speed SRAM MTB stuff pre-dates 1 x non DH groupsets on MTBs and were designed to work with at least two chainrings.

  • Yes. There were no official 11-42 cassettes at the time I think. But there were 42t expander cogs and things available and those worked without issue.

It's pretty cool, a 10-speed long-cage SRAM MTB mech will (theoretically) do 11-42 at the back and 50/34 at the front if you're into that sort of thing.

  • can you use screw extractor bit, or is the bolt too narrow?

  • If a deadline is "by february 2nd" do they mean february 1st 23:59 or february 2nd 23:59?

  • More things in the way to make it difficult you'd want as simple as possible

  • If a deadline is "by february 2nd" do they mean

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less."

Because there is a potential ambiguity, the only way to be sure that you meet the deadline is to submit before February 2nd begins.

  • My snap reaction upon reading this is February 1st 23:59

  • Would it be likely to cause a problem carrying a powerful exposure light as carry on luggage?

Also would it be a faux pas to wear a DPM camo hat in Austria?

  • I also have a beard and a passport that runs out in May.

  • I've carried on my Hope Vision 1, got stopped before hence thereafter I've always put it out on the tray. Still got it once I've explained they're just cycling lights.

  • That may work actually as it's an 8mm screw, tx!

  • How does a beard run out?

  • Clutching the arm of their spouse.

  • How does a beard run out?

To the right in my case, if the hair whorl on your face is of the opposite hand then presumably your beard would run out to the left.

  • If a deadline is "by february 2nd" do they mean february 1st 23:59 or february 2nd 23:59?

Year not specified, so could be any time!

  • I am strangely tempted by a black denim charge spoon saddle.

Has anyone ever ridden one or touched one. Are they smooth enough to work?

  • Or alternatively.....
Using an automatic centre punch, punch a deep mark close to the circumference of the sheared bolt. Then, insert the punch into the mark, and punch tangentially to rotate the bolt. I've managed to remove a sheared 5mm Ø bolt from a seat post using this method, so an 8mm Ø should be easy.

  • Tx, that may work too!

  • I have a small sharps bin that's now full.
How do I dispose of it? I asked the GP where I got it from. Do I really have to ring up the council for a collection?
I presumed they'd have sharps disposal on site...

  • Diabetic friend has this. He has to call up for it to be collected. They even suggest leaving it on the doorstep in case you're not in when they come.

  • I've been using Jagwire elite shift cables for a couple years and they've been great. They've finally started to grumble though. Has anyone successfully cleaned the inner plastic tube sections out? Or do I need to replace that bit? Or the whole set?

    Found a cheap replacement

  • I've had this in the past and I took it to the GP for disposal.
