  • I now see. The image wasn't showing for me before. Cool.

  • I’m sure there’s a thread for this, what’s the forum approved delivery company I need to post a frame to n ireland

  • I don't know what's "approved", but I'd steer clear of the usual recommendations of using a third-party broker such as Parcel Monkey.

They'll save you a couple of quid and are fine as long as nothing goes wrong, but if it does they're a major ballache: they issue their own tracking ref. (distinct from the actual courier's ref.) and you can't communicate with the courier directly (or promptly).

Parcel Force is convenient for me, because I can drop-off at a PO rather than waiting for them to collect; UPS are the Rapha of box-hodders; DPD provide accurate, 1 hour delivery windows and can be diverted to a pick-up point by the recipient if they won't be at the delivery address.

  • I dunno.

  • So, I have picked up a cheap Disc Trucker fork for my Straggler frame. (previous fork stolen)

The A-C is 10mm shorter on this fork, will I burst into flames? Lo-Pro Straggler?

Or it will make it a little more twitchy due to head tube angle and I'll survive?

  • If you want to host the images on microcosm, then add them as attachments, then edit the post to have them embedded and remove them as attachments.

Usually it's not relevant for me if an image is hosted on microcosm or anywhere else,
but, while your option sounds sort-of strange at first it actually works very well, and is less faff than uploading to some other image host beforehand.
    Cheers!

  • Anyone got a phone number for @Chalfie?

  • I do - emergency?

  • sniff
@fizzy.bleach I'm trying to pick up bits from him but having problems getting in touch. PM and random postings haven't helped so far...

  • Have you tried wailing through the letter box like an injured child?

  • I did, but the security guards looked at me like I was a leper and told me to get out. Something about owning a bicycle I think.

  • New to the forum so I don't quite know where to post this, wanted to find a cheaper alternative to 1" Chris King Gripnut (pink or light green color) which is the look I am looking for (well rounded cups and colorful), but which is also well above my budget (and apparently not easily available) ; found this: https://www.gambacicli.com/en/headset-tange-anodized-1-threaded.html
Any idea of the quality or if it is any good? Any other options in mind?
    Thank you for the help!

  • They do that to me and I work there

  • Was there a thread somewhere where @Velocio was showing how to auto-delete old tweets?

  • Tange always give good bang for the buck :)

  • there was but it got auto deleted.

  • Nowt wrong with Tange, but if you're choosing a headset on form rather than function, your priorities are skewed.

  • Cycling is just a spare time hobby that I practice much less than another one that takes me a lot of time ; however I am enjoying learning basic bicycle mechanics by slowly building and updating my bike towards something that I find as aesthetically pleasing as functional. Current headset that I have (stronglight A9 if I'm correct) was directly mounted on the frame I purchased and I did not chose it ; even if it is performing well I would like my bike to be 100% aligned with my taste which is why I looked for a particular form.

Moreover, I did not precise that I did not considered CK in my budget because I don't justify the need to have a 160$ "high performance" headset due to my limited use of the bike for the moment. I plan to change that by riding more and more and therefore I requested some advice as I am looking for a part that would be functionally similar to what I have, but a little bit more custom!

As far as my limited knowledge of cyclcing is, the function of a threaded headset is always the same, which is guaranteeing a good rotation of the fork within the frame while holding the fork in translation to prevent sliding out of the frame, so I think for any headset change anyone is focusing more on form than on function, no? If you talk about performance, in my mind it is even a different aspect than form or function, but that's only my opinion. Thanks for the feedback anyway!

  • thanks for the feedback!

  • Feedback gratitude.
