1mm spacer goes on before the cassette. The reason for it is that the bottom sprocket is not in line with the end of the carrier it is attached to, there is a slight dish. You can't use a 3mm spacer out of the middle of an old cassette.

I had no idea of the widths involves it was a guess on my part, i bow to your greater cassette spacing knowledge

Some Googling suggests that simply swapping to a different head (either the EVA head from SKS, or the twin-head design from Topeak) yields better results than sticking with the original design.
Anyone in favour of sticking with the original head?
Neil, the head of my Rennkompressor packed it in a while ago:
SKS. The rubber seal in the valve head on my Rennkompressor pump was worn out. I e-mailed them asking how to get a new seal and they immediately replied to say they'd send me the new multivalve head free of charge. It arrived asap. Great customer service.
I forgot to say that they sent it from Germany, too--postage cost €6.
The new dual valve head that they sent me is excellent.
Rennkompressors sold in this country always seemed to come with distinctly old-fashioned heads. I don't know if that's changed.
I'm going to Germany soon and can get you one if you want. PM me.

what are the best/ your favourite websites for mapping routes?
ideally:
- will plot a route, with info about roads and cycle lanes (like cyclestreets)
- can modify the suggested route (like googlemaps)
- can draw your own bits eg. for when the website doesn't know there is a cyclepath there
- elevation info

sorely missing from google maps, or I just can't find the features.

I like bikemap.net, but by the time I write this it may well have been superseded--there seem to be new ones all the time. The only thing I don't like about it is that the resolution doesn't go down far enough, but for everything else I think it's pretty good.

But doesnt pretty much all food break down into sugars in the stomach?
Does rice, bread etc count as sugars for these bacteria? It prolly does, im hypoglycemic, if I dont carb up regular my blood sugar goes down.

I use http://ridewithgps.com
It does all of the above and you can log miles done (or complete lack of in my case). You can also log rides to the site with GPS data from fancy Garmin devices apparently. - will plot a route, with info about roads and cycle lanes (like cycle streets)

@Malaysian: most cycle/sport specific sites have elevational info, not googlemap. haven't found one that doesn't stick to known roads though.. yet
@Oliver and Pifko: thanks, I'll check those out. seems like every time someone posts a weekend ride or other, it's a website I haven't seen before.

I don't know but I'm of the opinion (disclaimer over) that processed food and stuff with obvious high sugar content is germ nectar, so whenever I get a bad stomach I eat simple food like plain rice and it goes. Psychosomatic, coincidence, or voodoo, but it works.

I depends what it is but I had a stomach bug recently which gave me the shits. I always thought you had to stave a bug like that but the NHS website now recommends that you eat rice or bread with honey. I did this and it worked fine

How much is parking in London nowdays? My Dad's driving down from Birmingham for the big anti cuts march with a car full of people and wants to know where to park where he can jump on a tube down to embankment. Will all parking near stations be expensive?
What day and where is he coming from.

I think Chaibreaker still has my spacers. there should be 1mm one between them.
Sadly no, I don't.
