  • Log onto Ridewithgps on a desktop, hit 'UPLOAD', chose the 'Select Files' button on the left, and upload the gpx file. It'll appear in your Routes on Ridewithgps. No need for paid membership, it works with the free option too.

  • Cheers, will get at work tomorrow if I get a chance. Tried main website through phone browser and it said I needed to upgrade. Scandalous.

  • I don't understand

You said "a break is definitely required". If a day will do, you can have your break on the bank holiday Monday.

  • I was kidding, AVA r deth.

  • Classic spelling mistake using break instead of brake :( I'm a student at the moment, so I will actually have the whole summer free. No excuses I guess to not build me own wheels ;)

  • Thanks, I will have a look. Definitely more about food and coffee shops than clubbing as I'll be there for work, but I definitely don't want to stay in the soulless corporate area around the convention center.

  • Question to help settle an interesting discussion:

    Ahead only signs at junctions:

Is it illegal to ignore them? A colleague seems to think they are 'advisory' and are only legally binding if they are red no left/right turn signs.

    I'm not convinced.

  • Its the opposite. Blue circles give a mandatory instruction.

Tell your colleague to re-do their driving test. They obviously fluked the first one.

  • Does anyone make a 1" a-head spacer that has a larger (close to that of a 1 1/8" spacer) external diameter?
Running a shimmed stem on a alu bike with chunky tubes but the 15mm of skinny steerer stack underneath just looks weird -Is there a better solution?

  • shim the rest of the steerer too and use 1 1/8" spacers?

  • just use 1&1/8 spacers. as long as the stem is 1&1/8 it will be fine.

  • What's an attractive straight road fork that fits a mudguard and 25c tyres? Steel or carbon...

    And doesn't cost £400.

  • Switching energy companies. What's the deal with green gas suppliers? Seems that, in most cases, it's not actually any different from other gas suppliers (with some exceptions which use a small percentage of bio-methane in the mix).

I think I'll use Solarplicity for energy, but not sure of any real advantage to paying over the odds for a green gas supplier. Thoughts?

  • I want to buy something from Ukraine and the seller has offered these payment methods (paypal isn't available in Ukraine?):

    • WesternUnion
    • TransferWise
    • Skrill

Anyone have experience of any of the above methods? Looking to figure out which (if any) offer buyer protection.

(it's not a fluidisk wheel lol but a TUbicycle front rack)

  • Considering going with Bulb, but yeah similar thoughts about gas supply.

  • Have you googled 'PayPal Ukraine' to see if he's telling the truth? Give it a go :)

  • Does any kind soul near me in SE have a short (50-70mm) stem for 31.8 bars I can borrow for just a week? Trying to help someone out who's coming on tour next week, borrowing them a bike, bike might be a bit long so looking for an easy adjustment ...

    please ...

    pretty please!

  • I've got a 90 but nothing shorter. Shout if it's of use.

  • Actually. Just found an 80 from some old MTB bars.

  • Hey
I was cleaning my wheel yesterday and discovered a crack in it. How bad is this would you ride it etc? The wheels stilll true. It's quite a deep crack you can see it from the other side too.

It's right in the centre of the picture. On the left of the hub running between two holes.

  • The rest of the spokes are in tension with the rim so if it fails, I don't think you'd die spectacularly.
But I wouldn't ride it once I'd noticed that.

  • How bad is this would you ride it etc?

It's a matter of pure luck where the spokes go when that eventually explodes. If you don't fancy getting stabbed in the calf, stop using it immediately.

  • Thanks, nope we're definitely hunting for 70 max. Cheers Chris.

  • Got this, reckon it's 70 or so. God knows what that shim is, tho!
