I bought some ferrules from SJS for some gear stops that had no lip for the outer to sit against:

I bought some ferrules from SJS for some gear stops that had no lip for the outer to sit against:
Those are the closest I've seen to what I need, but they're not doing to do the job. The stepped down bit would need to be about 10mm long.
Perhaps with some good cable, a good cut and some patience with a file I can go ferrule-less.

Could you remove the outer cover and squeeze it into a metal gear ferrule?

Has anyone ever used one of these sweat gutter devices in hot countries? Do they work? Are they as ridiculous as I think?
-
• #82158
At first I was like, "Dude, just get a sweatband!".
And then I saw the industrial version and I was like, "M'kay...".
But if you're on TT extensions, I'm not sure they'd work so well: your head will be angled down, so the sweat will pool at the front.
-
• #82159
True... unless I'm climbing a 3000m mountain in Colorado... in which case it's unlikely I'll be on the extensions :)
What's special about the industrial version?
-
• #82160
They do a version for hard hats and I was only thinking of them for cycling.
-

My experience of climbing in Colorado is that the sweat will evaporate with great rapidity, my helmet straps went from black to white in a morning.

What time of year did you ride there?
Adrian's TABR report:
"It's hot 35 degrees and the sweat is stinging my eyes like hot pokers""the sweat in my eyes is starting to become a problem I need to solve. I'm wiping it away every few seconds. It's putting pressure on my left hand almost riding one handed"
"No matter how slow I took the climb the sweat was pouring into my eyes burning like acid"
Kentucky...
"Humidity 100% everything was dripping with sweat"
"This is when I realised I'd done all the damage to the left hand in the first half trying to keep the sweat out of my eyes it was like riding one-handed for the first 1000 miles."
It's amazing what can hurt when you multiply a 'normal ride' x 30.

Selling stuff, what else is there apart from eBay and Gumtree?
Facebook groups? -
• #82165
Forums, Facebook, there's some other auction sites for specific items, that Magpie service that takes old CDs, autotrader, etc. What are you trying to sell?
-
• #82166
Shit. Lots of shit.
Bike parts, amplifier, mixer. Frames. -
• #82167
None of it is sexeh bling.
-
• #82168
What mixer?
The amount of random off-topic shit that gets sold on here means it's never a bad place to pop up a thread. -

Yeah I've chucked it up..

Any ideas as to why Winstanley are selling 808FC at least £100 cheaper than the going rate?
Given their reputation (and my own experience), I called them to ask what the catch was: none apparently and they're definitely in stock and not grey imports (via Zyro Fisher).
With a purchase of this size I'd normally choose service & reputation over price, but £100 is not to be sniffed at.

If you were to receive the same order twice (only paid once) from a large online retailer would you let them know and send one back?
-
• #82172
Hmm. How much is it worth? And which online retailer?
-
• #82173
Depends on the retailer but highly likely I'd keep both.

Get Wiggle or Sigma Sport to price match?

£40~ from Ribble
That would mean taking a dremel to a freshly painted frame, and, in my experience, doesn't result in great brake feel either (though maybe I need to use better outer).
