  • Okay, in my experience you can never have a low enough gear, so I'd go for a 27 or 29 lowest cog, assuming your rear mech can handle it. There might be a time when you appreciate having it.

  • I'd definitely want a 28t. Or even lower if you want to spin.

  • I had 34f/32r in Gran Canaria and was quite happy about that halfway up the first climb

  • I think 28 will be the way to go.

I have a 12-25 at the moment as I like the smooth progression, but I imagine that will be low down on my list of things to worry about when I'm half way up hardnott.

  • I took 53/39 12-28 to the Alps and kinda regretted it.

52/36 12-26 was OK in Majorca tho.

  • having seen the other replies, I'm now considering 32.

Tech docs say that 28 is the max for a 105 short cage but a friend is running 32 with no issues...

  • I had 53/39 with an 11-28 when I took the Serotta to Colorado last, and whilst I set a PR up Flag it hurt.

  • Tech docs say that 28 is the max for a 105 short cage but a friend is running 32 with no issues...

Me Julie has done 7,000 miles this year running an Ultegra short-cage on an 11-32 block.

  • 34/27 got me into space over the last few years.

oops it is 600 km so only very well over half.

  • Technically 28t max, but if you drive the b-screw all the way in, it may clear the 32t sprocket,

May, because some derailleur hanger are longer than others.

  • Anything over 34/28 you might as well walk? And all I look at on the Garmin is cadence.

  • who tends to be best value for Luton van hire - need to get one for the day to be collected from near Epsom?

  • Enterprise are usually close to being the cheapest, certainly are of the more recognised vehicle hire companies.

  • My fire alarms ran out of batteries so I used my Panasonic Enloop rechargeable batteries. I've always found them to be good and I prefer rechargeables.

However they keep running out - at least less than 2wks. Bear in mind that the old ones have been running for at least 5-6months (possibly longer).

Any recommendations for suitable batteries for a fire alarm? Should I just use regular disposable ones?

    Cheers

  • i hired from Ace in croydon recently and they were much cheaper (it seemed anyway) than most of the big places

  • Any recommendations for suitable batteries for a fire alarm?

Energizer Ultimate Lithium, the LiFeS chemistry has huge capacity and very low self discharge rate.

  • Cheers!

Exactly the sort of info I was after.

  • Weird that the eneloops discharge so quickly, I often forget that my clocks that use them are battery powered. Are the alarms hard-wired with battery back up or all battery?

  • Anyone know what you need to collect from doddle?

I've done an order with wiggle and from what I can tell it's with doddle now but I don't have any numbers or anything so do I just rock up with id and hope somehow giving my name lets them find my order?

  • Does anyone live in Manchester? There is a bike id like to buy but the seller wants cash on collection and wont let me arrange a courier.

If some kind person would collect it and box it for courier that would be amazing.

  • I do, what's the deal?

  • I'll PM you when I get home!

  • Cool.
