I've (well a colleague) has got some big csv files (approx 4-5GB).
Even though we're running 64bit Office it turns out that Access, Excel and Powerpivot all through a fit when the file is over 2GB and won't import properly.
What's the best option for splitting the files into manageable chunks? Preferably for Windows.
Options that have occurred to me are using Vim (although I'd have to look up the best way of doing that) or importing into SQL and using queries to get manageable chunks. Both of these will involve me having to do it though, is there a simpler option? I'm sure I used to have a csv splitter at some point

Can you open it in notepad and C&P?

The bit that has got interesting is that now iPlayer use is also covered by the licence- not sure how you are meant to prove you don't have receiving equipment anymore.

They've recently changed the license fee to include online so it doesn't matter whether you have an aerial or even a tv, just whether or not you watch any bbc programming in the house.
How they can actually prove you are using it is another matter as I don't think they have any powers to search what you are viewing online.

It's been any "live broadcast" for years afaik. That always included internet tv that was live.
Catchup type shit didn't count and it was irrelevant if you had aerials but if you had a TV card in your PC they could probably fine you. Streaming, yeah, good luck inspectors.
For the record, I pay the lic. fee.

TV "licence" can fuck off.
Fuck off hard, fuck off fast and fuck off now.
Risibly, it's a criminal offence not to pay the "licence fee", so the onus is on them to prove you're committing an offence and not for you to prove you're not.
Furthermore, they have no right of entry despite their vague, sideways attempts to blur the issue if you challenge them.
And it's my experience, that if you bother to inform them you don't have/do anything that requires a "licence", they'll have the temerity to tell you that they need to inspect your home to confirm this (because you're a lying cunt obvs).
The current profit-making government proxy has resorted to not-so-veiled threats and attempted intimidation to collect the tv tax.
Still, at least it's preferable to being treated like an idiot with the nonsense of tv detector vans

The TV licence is fine and pretty decent value (less so in recent years I will concede).
The problem for me lies with the enforcement of the licence by Capita or whoever it is out with- proper debt collector tactics and BS which makes me not want to pay on principle.

How do I get netflix to stop giving me subtitles for text thats on screen? It's only for text, not speech. I cant see an option for it and it's really quite irritating.

Sometimes you will find a few options to choose from in the subs menu but rarely- whether the onscreen text is duplicated in the subs is down to the type of subtitle offered.
Unfortunately I have not found many shows that have a speech only option.

last night whilst riding home i noticed my front exposure blinky blinky light was getting dimmer and dimmer... odd since i'd only charged the batteries the previous day. Got home and smashed the rechargables in the USB battery charger. About half an hour later i noticed that the plastic casing around one of the batteries had started to balloon as if filled with air / gas, so i turned the fucker right off. Obviously a new battery is in order - anyone else experienced this? could the charger (a cheap arse bit of rinkydink kit if ever i've seen it) be at fault?

Does Dahon have a prorietary hub system?
The axle/skewer is a threaded bolt which cannot be pulled out from the hub body.
Busted my Dahon's front wheel and its a PITA to source a new one. There are plenty of "451" wheels on AliExpress, but they seem to use QR skewers so not sure if I could make them work on a Dahon fork. -

Use iTunes/use Spotify
TV licensing marketing model is worse than jehovah's witnesses or scientology.
