I ended up going with John Lewis. 3 bikes at £900 each only added £10 to the quote. Plus, and this is no way to choose, you get a free Nest smoke alarm.

Lifeline professional perforated tape and cables .. Dremel the outers.
-
• #79255
One of the Lifeline tapes is similar to DSP. This one I think? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lifeline-professional-bar-tape-with-perforation/

Call your LBS, have them do it.

See the Bike Insurance thread. Bikes over £x were no longer covered by the unlimited or £4k item cover or something so any bike over £1500 had to be a listed item which tripled my insurance costs.

Any suggestions for pubs with a good Sunday Lunch that also show football in Central or possibly North London? My fairly extensive pub knowledge is coming up a blank here.

Is there a reason I might not put a caliper brake on the inside of the seatstays to make space for a rack?
-
• #79263
Think which way the braking forces are going...
(TT bikes have U brakes on the 'wrong' side of the frame though so maybe it's ok?)

The same as the front wheel?
-
• #79266
Yeah but you'd need to rip it through a fork crown so it might depend on how tough the stays are as to whether it's suitable.
-
• #79267
I would have thought the bending force on the bolt and twisting on the stays is approximately the same and I doubt you'd strip the bolt thread from the pulling force if it's not already fucked...

• #79268
I really have no idea but some seatstays are designed very thing to flex for comfort so I dunno, try it and see :)
-
• #79269
Seems to work OK for front brakes, and they're subjected to stronger forces.

Won't somebody think of the skidz!

Anyone ever come across the Boardman SLR Endurance Titanium (9.2 or 9.4) in the flesh. Thoughts? Would it make a good bike?
I can only find the one review out there which is by Cyclist magazine.

Boardman SLR Endurance Titanium
Didn't notice these when I was looking for an ultra bike - I thought they were all carbon.
Why would you want Ti over carbon though?
-
• #79273
Have to say I love the look of the bike (in 9.4). Plus I need something that can make an all year bike, that I can use for commuting and long winter rides.

I don't like the paint fade but I mean I'd take one if someone gave me one :)
https://www.boardmanbikes.com/gb_en/bikes/slr-road/slr-endurance-titanium/I use my carbon bike for commuting and long winter rides. Well I did, I now have an alu Kinesis that will do much of the grunt work.

The paint fade is what does it for me!
I would be nervous about taking carbon out in the winter, especially with inner city roads in Birmingham!
I've a few questions to help tie up my latest build:
There is a forum approved bar tape (better than lizard skins dsp apparently). Maybe it's from wiggle. What is it?
There's a forum-approved compressionless brake cable system. What is it?
Paging @amey (at a guess...)
