excel question:
I need a cell to show:
X = 5% of y where a is greater than zero. (a forms part of the calculation for y).
...so in my head it needs to be something like:
=sumif(b1*0.05,a1>0)
[assuming a1 = a and b1 = y]
...but it doesn't work. Any advice, or other search terms i should be using? I feel like i'm so close.
=if(a1>0,b1*0.05,0)

can i use this lever with a dual pivot brake? have v brake rear, dual pivot front, currently using a dirt harry lever, which will be better power? can't remember if you can mix n match?
-
• #7694
V brakes pull more cable than standard cantis or callipers such as dual pivot. Avide speed dial levers have a adjustable cable pull as do some old shimno lx levers.
like these
the little h-l bit alters the cable pull.
-
• #7695
why would you want to lower the cable pull?
HAVE I GOT IT WRONG
-
• #7696
hmmm, i'll have a look tommorow but i dont think they did, am ok with having mismatched levers tho
-
• #7697
why would you want to lower the cable pull?
HAVE I GOT IT WRONG
v brakes require more cable pull, so you will want to reduce the cable pull for non v brake type brakes. (or linear pull cantilevers as they should be called, v brakes being shimano's version)

• #7698
Yeah but just install them with the desired pull no?
SORRY IF I'M DUNCING HARD

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lever
If you have too much cable pull, that means the force must be less at the other end, i.e. less pressure on the brake pads for a given lever force. This is a bad thing, because it reduces the amount of retardation force you can generate from the brake.
There are specific flat bar levers with leverage ratios matched to road brake callipers, e.g. BL-R550

OK, so the lever shape dictates brake type, so a lever with H/L pull is compatible with more brake types.
For some reason I'm quite liking Gerald as a cats name at the moment
