I would.
Now I know the bearing types I might do it myself next time.

Brilliant, dead local too! Thanks.
Next question, the straddle wire on my weinman brakes seems too long.
Are other sizes available or am I missing something? I've held a Shimano equivalent up and it seems more or less the same.
It's my first go at cantilevers and I'm starting to understand the frustrations.

if you're going to the trouble of specifying a particular bearing, then for skf, specify LGLT2 grease

@snottyotter should be able to help you out.

Anyone know about solar panels?
I'm thinking I should get one to charge stuff more as I'm outside lots now so could just stick it on the front rack when I'm not moving stuff on it but then how big does it need to be so it's useful as I had one before that was about A6 paper size and it was rather crap and never charged a thing.
Thinking this atm.

Typical smartphone battery ~8Wh.
Sounds like you could theoretically charge it quite quickly with a 15W output. -

financial aggregator sites. yes/no?
it'd be nice to see all my lack of cash in one place.
are they good/bad/unsafe/get to fuck. -
• #76186
@LongAndWinding has some experience with a few. Mostly good. Depends on what you want to do. Useful for "where does all the fucking money go?" type analysis.

I use Money Dashboard to aggregate, then export offline. Was using Banktree, just about to start using Moneydance.
-
• #76188
@Aroogah and @LongAndWinding yep. WHERE DID MY MONEY GO?
is what I'm after.why the switch to moneydance from money dashboard?

Can someone please remind me, with track drops, the bottom of the handlebar can be no lower than the highest point of the tyre, correct?
Cheers

• #76190
Correct, otherwise the bars will hit the tyre when you try to turn.

I haven't, MoneyDashboard is the online service that connects to your bank/creditcard/etc accounts and draws all the transactions into one place. From one website, I can see what all the balances are. It also categorises (some auto) and does other stuff I haven't used. It will not perform transactions or move money, but imports your transactions.
Moneydance will be the more intelligent offline software I am about to use at home (I switched from Banktree as Moneydance seems better to use these days and Banktree was a bit clunky, haven't used it for a couple of years). So now, I categorise things in Dashboard (can do so anywhere online), and then download for importing to Moneydance where I hope to be able to properly reconcile stuff like refunds. eg. at present if you spend £100 on toys, then get a refund of £80, the software tots up that you have spent £100 on toys, and the refund is swallowed into 'income'. Also for budgeting, etc, etc.

I have received a letter from https://www.verificationonline.co.uk which appears to be a part of Capita asking me to verify some details for a policy I may have.
Has anyone seen this? I'm obviously not keen on entering my details into a random website and google doesn't seem to throw up much.

• #76195
I'd wait till the men in black come to your door.
-
• #76196
Call Capita/whoever you have the insurance with and get them to confirm it. Unsolicited messages asking for sensitive details are highly suspicious...
-
• #76197
That would normally be the plan but attempting to find a number for an even slightly relevant part of Capita is more awkward than you'd expect.
-
• #76198
I'd suggest calling the people you have the policy with rather than Capita.
-
• #76199
also, don't call the number on the letter. make sure you get the number from their official website.

That's the trouble, I don't know which policy it is. The letter is from Capita.
All the SKF bearings I have laying around within arm's reach have markings etched on the edge of the outer race on one side only, so you'd only be able to see them once installed in a hub if the mechanic puts them in with the markings to the outside. I'm not suggesting for one moment that there are people obsessive enough to actually do that as a matter of course...
