You better believe it! :)

Had 1x9 on the cargo bike for ages with no clutch or NW chainring, that thing gets bumped around a lot and has an extra long chain that never fell off.

Great, that's £30 saved then.

I've been running 1x10 on the road all winter without narrow-wide chainring or clutch mech without problem - Sram Red shifter, Dura-Ace 7800 crank and Dura-Ace 44t chainring, Sram Force rear mech, Ultegra 12-25 cassette.

What kind of rings are you using? Regular rings with shifting aids like ramps and pins, or 3/32 single-speed rings?
-
• #74632
Dura-Ace 7800 44t inner chainring - so no ramps or pins - in the outer ring position.

Is it possible to buy bearing races for a solid rear track axle with cartridge (sealed) bearings?
The bearings are 60010.
I am trying to convert a disc wheel for track use, and I've done it before, but can't remember how I got the parts last time. I think someone gave me some bits and pieces which worked with a standard solid rear axle.
Thanks.

I'm aware that 'race' might not be the right word. Whatever the cartridges sit on is what I'm after.

Have a look on @Scilly.Suffolk 's Yokel Motion 2 build, the bearing seats you need are the same although you'll obviously need different spacers and a longer axle.

I have used the MIO Link and it worked well.

Interested to see how well they work. I don't think I've had a correct readout from a chest hrm yet. (Garmin ones, online says may be because of jersey material).

perfect excuse to participate in the naked bike ride - unless they boot you off for wearing the HRM

So long as it doesn't obscure the man-nipples...

I never understood the panic with not using NW rings and clutch mechs - I ran a single 44t XTR on my old 8 speed Kona for years without any issues hammering it around quarries.

For a group supposedly keen on nature, WNBR participants seem remarkably keen on defacing their bodies with paint, so I can't see that a bit of elastic strap will cause offence. The PETA-tendency might not have loved the leather version (bonus points for anybody who knows what year this was)

develop new product > convince cyclists they need it > trouser cash

You won't have to spend it on trousers.

Are speedos acceptable when swimming as an adult? Rather than fucking board shorts or square shorts?
-
• #74646
"speedo"
Sounds like "peedo".
I think you have your answer.
-
• #74647
Right then. What does one wear to swim properly in?

Yes. Jammers.
Mine are Speedo (or is that Spaedo).

Jammers. Always jammers.
I hope so: I've built someone a TT bike without a NW chainring or a clutched mech...
The advice I got was that if you weren't using a wide-range cassette, chain slap was unlikely and so therefore was the risk of unshipping your chain.
The chainring does have full height teeth and no ramps or pins; the cassette is 12-25.
A clutched rear mech seems the most effective precaution to me, as it addresses the problem (chain slap) rather than the symptoms.
