Basic cromo/mangmoly or one of the super steels?
Basic is more forgiving and can be easily reset. -

Early 80s if not late 70s 531... Nice frame in its day, had a tough life.

do it - check out Sheldon's page on it, scary but instructive

4.5mm either side should be fine, but there are a couple of things to consider.
You'll need to brace the chainstays just beyond where the chainring extends, to maintain clearance.
I'd also brace the frame at the seatstay bridge, so that doesn't get stressed.
You'll need to tweak the dropouts, after setting the stays, to get them parallel again.
Using something to screw the stays apart won't work, unless both the tool and the frame are fixed: otherwise only the weaker stay will move.
Should I just make life easy and fine a 130 wheel?
There is that...

I have two Word docs on my computer that I often have to print out with certain print configurations (2 sided, flip on short edge, 2 pages per sheet).
Is there a way to condense that into a shortcut somehow so I can do it via the keyboard without having to open the file?

So apparently I can use a script to print out files, but can I change the print parameters using it?
-
• #72410
Might be an option to install the printer a second time, with a different name and the settings you want as default.
-
• #72411
Use a Word macro that, when you open the file, prints it with the options required.
-
• #72412
Yes I would have thought a script that opens word and runs a specific macro, with macro set up for print parameters would be best solution
-
• #72413
Cheers - and I can then close Word using the same script?
So the script goes:
Open specific file in Word
Run macro to print file using print setting x, y and z
Close file -

I'm not really sure what the script is for. You can close word after printing using the macro.

Just print a few spare copies while you have the file open. No script, macro or batch file full of command line switches needed :-)

If it's a long document then Word may not have printed all of the pages before you close it.

I want to avoid opening Word at all, ideally. If I've gone to the trouble of opening it I may as well go though the GUI to print it.
Tester speaks sense.

Is there a reason you don't want to open word to print? Obviously there are infinite reasons to not want to open word.
Can you save the file as a PDF and print from acrobat using your desired setting?

It's mainly a (minor) time saving thing. I need to print these files out maybe 3 times a week each when I'm preparing to interview people. Each file contains a list of questions to ask. Typically I'm rushing around looking for a room, trying to find my recorder and would just like to hit a key combo and have the printer spit out the questions so I can grab it as I walk to the room.
Right now I have to locate the file (they're in a shared network location but I could easily do a desktop shortcut), open it, click File > Print, apply the exact same non-default print settings I always have to apply, then click print, then close Word.

I'd assumed the doc changed regularly so that printing out a batch wouldn't be worth it.
-
• #72421
It changes regularly enough for me not to print out more than, say, 10.
The extra time it takes me per week has been more than eclipsed by my efforts to reduce that time today ;)

You could probably script that in VB.net using something like this https://stackoverflow.com/questions/10440740/how-to-print-a-word-document-without-opening-word
Personally I'd just have a shortcut to open the word file which has a macro that autostarts when the file is opened. It will open up the word interface but it would be a matter of double clicking the shortcut, word will open, macro will run, file will print with requested settings, word will close again. You can rush round the room whilst it's doing that.

I could add a keyboard shortcut to open the word file if I created a desktop shortcut, too. Cheers.

WAIT!
If someone else opens it (it's in a shared location) will it auto-run for them too?
YOLO .. 9mm is a fair bit tho
