Trying to get an even wear would be more expensive replacing both tyres at the same time rather than just the rear/front.
Don't worry about it and ride the damn bike, or get yourself those hip low trail bicycle that evenly spread the weight on both wheels.

Why do BMXs commonly have a bigger front tyre than rear?

Assuming the only difference between the two is the weight each has to support, what's in theory the ideal way to ensure even wear on front and rear tyres?
Answering a different question, one common method for dealing with a worn rear tyre is moving the current front tyre to the rear and putting a new tyre on the front. That way the front always has a relatively new tyre (and therefore good grip). It is a bit of a faff though.

I thought everyone did it that way.

I imagine different compounds of the same tyres are really difficult to find but could a larger one at the back at an higher pressure mitigate the differences up to the point that you would just change the pair together most times?
Like motorcycles? -

As far as I know, that comes from dirt jumping/trails/racing where people put a knobblier, wider front tyre on for better grip in the assumption that if the front makes it through, the rear will follow. Most street and park riders I know will run same width front and back.

How long does it take for a blood blister to go away? I got one on my thumb and it's black. Looks like there is paint on it. Been like this for about 2 weeks now.

I had one on my toe which took about three weeks. Should have shrunk by now, surely?

How does one go about requesting the use of BFI archive footage for an art project. I see the T&Cs on the BFI player specifically exclude use/modification but there is no info I can find about how to apply for a licence.

Not really. Still the same size and dark black. It's not swollen though.

what 26" semislick tyres do I want to put on my converted mtb? canals and paths, mostly road, loaded with a child on the front.

I found a pair of 26" Gatorskins on eBay and fitted them on my old Halfords 'Mounting' Bike. Idea?
-
• #69566
Sounds good. Can't believe how heavy most 26" tyres are!
-
• #69567
26" Gatorskins or Specialized Nimbus Armadillos. The Nimbuseseses are a bit wider than the Gatorskins.

Where can I get really long zip ties in London?
You know, the kind you'd use for bedroom fun, if you weren't too busy trying to prep a bike for a 24hr?
-

27cm+ I guess I need x 2 (or more since I'll probably fuck it up)
-
• #69574
Ah yeah, always forget about that place. Nice, I'll have a look tomorrow. Otherwise I found a Screwfix nearby that does some 300mm ties. Cheers

Not the neatest answer, but you can always daisy-chain a few together if neccesary
Was thinking that a lower pressure upfront would probably have the same effect of a softer compound tyre offering a bigger contact patch, better grip and more wear?
