  • Did you get your legs ripped off last night?

To answer your question, cross tyres are fine on narrow rims, even at lower pressures.

  • head for john bright street - brewdog, cherry reds, the victoria, island bar all ok. as rive_gauche says, wellington is good, there are a few nice pubs near cornwall st.
avoid broad st at all costs.....

consider heading out to Moseley (50 bus route).

  • No. I'm just moaning, because someone won't shut up at work.
Last night was good fun. There's some funny old noises from the bike when it moves into the top 3 gears of the block on the wheelset I was using last night. Rattly sounds from the rear derailleur. It might be that the chain could be that much shorter.
Squeaky rubber cable against metal noises when I turn the bars.
Also. I lost my rear light last night.
    Sad face.

  • I've a spare spare rear light. Yours if you want it (Smart 2AA job).

  • Did you ever get a saddle recovered, and if so where did you get leather and did it look good?

May be cheaper than buying a new SMP pro (mine is red, now need black)

    :)

  • I haz one I think. It was one of those nights. My garmin bounced out. I stopped and got that. The light bounced out. There was a slight time pressure (though not really in the end as we FUCKING SMASHED IT and made the train with at least 5 mins) so I didn't stop.
Got the train back from Dalston due to no light.

  • Last time I was on Broad St. I saw a guy in a wheel chair resisting arrest... and resisting.

(Obviously I'm not saying people with mobility disabilities aren't capable - just suprised with the dedication)

  • Excess paint from dropouts filed. Wheel fitted.

Update: After a months of use, happy to report no issues! :)

  • a cheaper cassette with the biggest cog removed

It's the bottom sprockets that are cantilevered over the hub, so this looks like the path of least resistance: minimal amount of messing with what Shimano intended.

    Singlespeed spacer kit?

  • Perhaps adjust your limiter first?

  • Eh?

  • Anyone a member of the paceline forum that can get in touch with someone on my behalf?

  • Cheers for the suggestions @rive_gauche and @n3il I now have some decent alternatives when someone inevitably suggests Vodka Rev or Walkabout on Broad Street

  • Need to ride over to Newbury on saturday from west london. Any suggestions on route? Quickest is best. Wouldn't mind a few hills

  • A4 Bath Road all the way but traffic can be shit through Slough and Reading.

  • I have a UG/HG compatible hub (threads inside and outside) with a 7 speed cassette on it; the lock ring screws off and the smallest sprocket then the others together slide off. However the STI shifter is 8 speed, so it doesn't work perfectly.
Will an 8 speed cassette fit on this hub?

  • Do you want fast or scenic?

  • Fast. Need to ride back too so just want efficiency.

  • A4 then.

  • Ta

  • traffic can be shit through Slough and Reading

ftfy. There's nowt in Slough that's going to slow/trouble a cyclist. If you want to avoid the town centre, get off the A4 near Langley and go through Upton, Chalvey and Cippenham to rejoin the A4 near Burnham.

I prefer Old Bath Rd (A315) from Chiswick to Hounslow West on a bike.

  • Will an 8 speed cassette fit on this hub?

Almost certainly. As long as the external UG sprocket threads are interrupted by the full length splines (right hand image), you can fit an 8-speed HG cassette

  • Great. Thanks.
Do you happen to know a good place to find an 8 speed 11-28 or 11-25 too?

  • Is C really absolute?
