  • It'll be caliper brakes...what's the service mode?

  • the little button to slacken lever?
EDIT - apparently they both have QR feature

  • Edit: both carry this feature

A built-in push button quick release system provides cable slack for quick wheel removal or to gain additional tire clearance on-the-fly when the conditions get muddy.

  • They both have it, but the TRP ones have a slightly better version of it. When you've got the lever open, you only need to start braking and the QR automatically clicks shut. Whereas on the Tektro / Cane Creek ones, the QR will stay open until you close it manually.

  • The hood shape is very different too. Tektro / Cane Creek is quite short, flat and stubby, while TRP is thinner, longer and curvier (no euph). Depends what you like but the TRP's suited me much better.

  • Ah right, cheers for the help guys, think I might go with the TRP levers for now.

  • @mdcc_tester / @umop3pisdn- I think you have a neat solution for not needing track nuts for your fixie bikes. Have I got this right? Allen keys rather than 15 mm spanner?
    How it work?

  • ^ Also interested. Aero marginal gains also?...

I've only got done it for my Hed 3. You'll need chain tugs if you're doing a rear wheel.

  • Ta. Will now need to find allen key chain tug for rear.

I'm wasting time at work, I may never get around to this...
But thanks for giving me the link!

  • I've one you can have.

  • Oh right. This might happen!

  • An elderly relative is asking for me to get photoshop so they can edit their photos. I normally get a phone call every time they need to copy the photos from the memory card to the computer; I don't think they will manage to navigate photoshop/the-gimp. Can anyone recommend a very basic but very user friendly photo editing software program? I think something that can crop and straighten would suffice. Ta.

  • @root Pixlr Express is nice and straightforward, and has some ok features if you ignore the shitty filters/borders/clip art etc.

  • I'll give these all a look and check how easy they are to get on with. Cheers

Been using Irfanview for a decade, never felt the need for anything else.

All the cool kids are using Torx these days, happy to sell you a few from my bag of screws.

  • A pal of mine coming over from the US needs to rent a bike for a week.

Is this the best he can do?

He's even shorter than me so lending him one of mine isn't an option. Also he wants a nicer bike than my spare.

  • In Cologne for a few days. What shouldn't I miss? Wandered around, been to the Wallraf-Richartz and drunk Kölsch so far. Wurst-count: 0

  • I'm going to be in Manchester on Sunday, which apparently coincides with the United v City match. Is it going to be a nightmare?
