Hacksaw it at the side of the court after the safety check guy says you can't play until you do, don't spill your breakfast beer.

I don't have access to a machine shop these days so it'll have to be manual - good trick with the nut/die, I wouldn't have thought of that!
I'll have to measure it properly when I get home, I'm just a bit worried about not being allowed on track even though it's a track frame and wheels.

Who was carrying the saw to polo?

It's a common tournament problem.

• #65631
It will look fine, especially when you add mudguard that fill in the clearance a lots more.
-
• #65632
That and spilling the breakfast beers, I imagine.
-
• #65633
Actually looks pretty good. Longer chain stays on the trucker mean more clearance to fill but suppose if I get super plush 42mm and some decent guards the the space will fill up quickly... New wheels though... Should really learn how to lace my own.

Freshtripe sell strong 650b wheel, or just get 650b MTB wheelsst if you're disc.

• #65635
omg did I totally miss the 650b conversion conversation!?

• #65636
or fit a couple of washers before the nut, no need to cut at all
-
• #65637
Won't that increase the chance of slippage?

• #65638
Grippy washers.

Won't that increase the chance of slippage?
Fit chain tugs - solves the axle length and potential slippage issues in one fell swoop.

• #65640
Good point. The overhang is about 2mm on the nds and 4mm on the ds, which seems... odd.

Can anyone recommend a sportive happening around Cambridge/ East Anglia in the next few months? The harder the better.

G Pulley goes top? And what is left and right please?

bushing upper pulley
bearing lower pulley
or is it the other way around..
-
• #65644
your rear end is out of alignment, cold set the nds out by 1mm and the ds in by 1mm, everything went better than expected..
-
• #65645
That will just shift the chainline though, not where the axle sits...
Edit: Also, brand new wheels and alu frame

^^^^ re: Aliums/SPDs etc.
Corny Blackfeet clued me up to old stock Aliums on Amazon of all places. Ordered a pair. SPDs: Got 520s on my beater and got 540s for the slightly less beat beater. Will try the ATACs when they arrive and order more if I like 'em more than the Shimanos. Or not if I don't.
Braks: are these a sensible choice if I need a bit moar reach/drop than standard 105s? I can't find the measurements anywhere but looking at them the reach and adjustable slotty bit looks longer than on most.

• #65648
Worried they might even be a bit too reachy. I need 65mm (measured from centre of caliper mounting nut to middle of pad nut). I'd like black as well if poss.

apologies for the jargon.

That's a pretty big drop, Tektro R559 come in black.
Just to be sure, do you also measure it from centre of mount to centre of rims (rather than pad nut).
Depends how dexterous you are with tools.
I would use a powerfile if it is just a couple of mm. Or a large smooth hand file, taking care not to put the filings into and onto the hub.
